he was shooting factory federal 55 grain power shok soft points. 3 shot group at 100 yards. pretty dang good shooting if you ask me!
GOD BLESS

I had one years ago. It would shoot small groups as well. Only problem was POI would shift very easily. I changed rings and scopes and never did figure that rifle out. Then my brother who bought his same day I bought mine, I doubt he's had his scope caps off since he bought it. His has been a very dependable accurate shooter.

I have a Handi Rifle in .223. It's a good shooter, and the trigger surprised the heck out of me with the light crisp pull. I never expected that and it's one reason I purchsed it in the first place. I checked out the .223 and a .243 at the local gun store, and both triggers were really nice.

I've taken two turkeys with mine. It may not win any bench rest competitions, but it's a neat little hunting / knock about rifle - at least that's my experience with the one I have. It has had some extractor problems, however.

Now remember I'm shooting a cheap H&R Handi Rifle that when purchased originally had a 7mm-08 barrel on it. I still have the barrel as you can add more barrels as you go along. I picked up a .204 Ruger barrel and headed up to my uncles place to sight in the scope. I'm using a BSA Sweet .223 scope with target turrets. I contacted BSA to find out if this scope would work with a .20 cal bullet, and they said it would.

Well my uncle went up with me to the upper pasture because he had never seen a .204 Ruger before, and only knew of the information that I found and read on the subject matter. He has a Remington 700 in .223 Rem and thinks that is the cats meow, and kept after me to just stay with the .223 cartridge.

Well I got my scope dialed in at 25 yards using the Caldwell lead sled, then turned and shot just one round at 100 yards. That first shot was high, and having a scope that can adjust quickly I turned the target turret and watched the retical crosshairs move up as I turned the turret up to that first fired hole in the target that was high. I then re-positioned myself on the center of the target, took a breath and fired. The attached picture is the end result and no I did not miss the dime, it is there to show for size comparison of the group with is less than a dime in size for 3 shots.

YES, I said 3 shots
This 3 shot 100 yard group speaks for itself, as I used the 32-gr Hornady V Max factory loads for testing. The Handi Rifle was benched in a Caldwell lead sled for stable shooting.

I'm one of those guys who said that. I have worked with three Handi rifles, two in .223, one in .308, and two in 30-30.

Every one of them would shoot a three shot group like the ones I'm seeing in this thread. Any rifle will do it occasionally. But..I challenge all NEF handi owners on this board to head out to the range and shoot a 25 shot 100 yard group and then bring it back and post it here. There will be a few that turn in an ok performance but the vast majority will not do so great. Oh, and BTW, you must declare that you are in before you shoot and you must commit to posting your target no matter what the results.

Both of the 30-30 rifles were 30-30/12 Ga combo guns. Let me tell you they are a great tool for the right time and place. They are 100 yard deer and pig killers as proven by two kids in OK to whom I gave one of those sets. They have killed a bunch of whitetails and pigs with it and some turkeys with the 12 gauge barrel.

ok, so those guns will shoot a group like the ones posted, and they are proven game takers.....So whats the problem.

why would I expect anything more out of a single shot economy rifle than that?

Who shoots 25 shot groups to measure accuracy, if it were me, and I put a group like that up Id stop at 3, put the paper away and go hunting.

I tell you what Longcruise, as soon as I get my next several boxes of Hornady 32-gr V Max, I will take you up on the offer.

I don't have enough brass to reload right now, and our weather is changing daily as right now its 17* and expected to hit 10* tonight. But as soon as I can do this, I will just to have some fun here as I know its all in the spirit of fun.

Now I would really rather lay 25 coyote down instead as the 25 rounds would be put to better use that way

It is neat to see closely spaced holes in a target, that's for sure. Seeing that I have never shot at any live targets more than 3 shots, I see no real purpose in shooting 25 rounds for a group, that's just me though.
I want my guns to put the first one from a cold rifle where I want it to go. Maybe the first three. If it shots MOA +/- then I am all set for what I do.
