Worst Gun I Ever Owned!!

I saw many a post here asking for feedback on the best rifle you ever owned. Now let us here about the worst. Mine was a Remington Model 788 in a 7mm-08. Purchased in the early 80's, It had a 18 inch barrel and a 3X9 Leupold scope. Purchased as a one owner from a local gunshop. The gunshop owner told me it was traded on a 30-06 and the original owner said "it was not big enough to kill a deer"
I thought, what an idiot. After buying the gun and
10 boxes of shells to trying to sight the *%#&# thing in, I arrived
at the conclusion that I was the only idiot..........

...oh..... and i just bought a 788 in 7mm-08..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
No I didn't! But I did put a deposit on a Model Seven in 7mm-08! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

I've owned a couple of guns that - while they may or may not have been bad - did not suit me at all.....

My first handgun some 30 years ago was an H&R double-action .22 but it didn't have a swing-out cylinder. That thing had the worst trigger pull I've ever experienced. I also learned from this gun that I don't like fixed sights; I'd rather adjust the gun to fit my aim than me to fit it. I very soon traded it for a Ruger Single Six.

I also had a Combat Commander for about a month. Now, I have a friend who has one and he swears by it..... But I simply couldn't hit anything with the gun. It also had fixed sights.

me!

I bought a Marlin 512 slugmaster 12 ga for deer hunting when it first came out. It is accurate for a slug gun but the feeding is so lousy I hate to even think about it.

Then there was the first deer hunting gun that I ever had. My dad bought me a single shot 410. I have never forgiven him for that lol.

Savage model 340 in 222Rem. That front barrel band kicked my A$$. Handloading I was lucky to shoot an inch and a half. That was one I did not sell to a friend.

Some Military surplus carbine chambered in 7.62 Russian. Kicked like a mule, and was worse on accuracy.

Thought I was going to hunt deer with it. Maybe I was anticipating the recoil, I don't know. Didn't sell it, I dropped it into the ocean!

My worst one was a beautiful Ruger No.1. Like a beautiful woman...it was eye candy but aint no working tool. Got rid of it for a big loss and settled down with a Sako. Been happy camper since.

The worst things i ever bought were two kimber .22 rifles. one a classic and the other a varmint classic . Both shoot great but will not feed or always go off and Kimber still cant seem to fix them.

Worst gun I ever owned was 2 differnt savage's. First one was new in 1977 .30-06, second was used in 1998 .243 win. After 30 rounds in the 06 I noticed the bolt was cracked, dumped it for a loss. I,m a little slow so I tried savage again and the .243 best pattern was 4" at 100yrd after a trip to the gun smith new scope differnt ammoand all the rest of the tricks that usualy help

I can't say that I've ever owned a bad rifle, so I guess I'm lucky in that respect. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

However, I have owned a couple of nasty shotguns. The first one was a Winchester model 1400. It didn't matter what ammo, how well it was cleaned, if it was oiled or not....it was prone to feed jams. I traded it in for a Savage .22-250. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

The second was a Remington 870 Express Super Mag. The issue was stamped parts and after sending it back to a Remington service center 2 times without success, I cut my losses, sold it and purchased a Benelli Nova. My Nova has never had the slightest problem with ammo, the slide action is slick and it patterns very well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Good hunting, Bowhunter57

The worst gun that I ever owned would have to be a Mossberg 500 Wetland something. Bought it as it was one of the first few 3.5 chamber guns.

It kicked like a mule, it would stove pipe shells(when I was feeding them in the chamber), and the safety only worked part time.

Sent the gun back to Mossberg twice and never got fixed got rid of it and have never tried another. Must say I love the SBE.

Mine was a Reminton 870 Express 12 gauge I bought new. Single shot!

That thing NEVER cycled a shell into the chamber after shooting the first one.

The action felt like it had gravel in it and the finish looked like they used gravel to finish it.

The final straw was when I left the gun in the sun and the sun MELTED the finish on the stock.

I sold it and never looked back. I think the Wingmaster is a decent gun but the Express is not worth the $200 they sell for.

When it comes to shotguns you get what you pay for.

I'd have to say it was a 6 inch barreled Colt Python I traded for in the early 80's..With the rear sight bottomed against the frame this revolver would shoot 6 inches high at 25 yards. It didn't matter if I shot full magnum loads or 38 wadcutters it shot 6 inches high. I was about to throw it in the lake at the conservation club I was so frustrated with it. Fortunatly my shooting buddy stopped me from doing it. I finally traded it away and never looked back.

Coyote 6974

Jennings .22 LR semi-auto pistol. Trigger pull that feels like 12 lbs and jams routinely. What was I thinking? Todd

The worst one was a Winchester Pre 64 model 70 in .270....The riflemans rifle....It wouyldn't shoot closer to zzero than 8 inches to the left!!!...It was like the barrel was bent...I know this in not the norm...I am a Winchester guy...but this was a problem gun...it is no longer mine...a local gunsmith said he could fix it....he rebarreled the action to 30.06 and made a profit....good for him.

Mossberg 16 gauge bolt action. The ugliest, hardest recoiling, FTFing POS I ever shot. The thing kicked like a 3-1/2" 12 gauge single shot slug gun with a full choke. Got rid of it when it went off (safety on) with a light bump on the butt. Took me two years to stop flinching, lol.

I got a spanish single barelled 12g given once, what a load of f#####g crap. Never felt right, tinny, straight long stock, thin barelled, crap ejector, ugly, #%$%"*@¬+&%?/< shite.

Handed it in, on one of the amnesties after Hungerford, these Spanish must be a queer shape to be able to shoot it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

(no offense if your spanish) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hollowpoint 22.

I can honestly say I cant think of I gun that I have owned that I would give the lable WORST. However the rifle that gave me the most frustration was a Mini 14. Nuff said trying to get that to shoot consistant groups. I have a 788 in 7mm 08 and it happens to be one of my favorites and will shoot a group as well as I can do my part. I have shot a few deer and an antelope with it. The first time I saw the rifle my grandfather dropped a spike elk in its tracks with it.
