In a bug out or survival/apocalyptic situation I would think any .22 rifle that uses a detachable magazine would be inferior to a rifle that uses a tube magazine.
The magazines (even though they are faster to reload the rifle if the mag is loaded) can be lost. If you lose your magazines, now you are limited to a single-shot rifle that isn't easy or quick to reload. Much less to lose with a marlin model 60, 39, or a Henry lever.
Faulty logic. Say I have a detachable mag fed Savage, one mag in the rifle, a few mags in my pack. If I accidentally drop the mag over my back and lose the one, I still have extras in my pack. If I lose my pack, I still have the one in the rifle...
Now, say I have a tube fed Marlin. I've lost a few mag tube plungers (the brass tube, housing the spring and follower) over the last 20yrs in Marlin 60's by bumping them wrong then leaning over while hunting. I only have one of those tube plungers, and it's gone...
So no, I don't agree with the logic.
But again, this isn't a "what's a good bug out .22lr?" thread, it's a "what's your go-to 22lr?" thread.
