Your go to .22 rifle?

Like most of ya'll I have a lot of the ones already mentioned. For a whole bunch of years it used to be my Kleingunther K22, now its either a custom 581S I built or a Sako Quad.

Thought I answered this already but must have been another forum asking about .22 weapon...

mine is my Winchester M67 .22LR single shot that I got when I was 7 years old...stock cut down as it was split, open sights...dinged up, patina on metal where blueing has worn off everywhere...but it still shoots and taught my nephew to shoot it two weeks ago on squirrel hunt. Not pretty...not tack driver long range, no scope but reliable and kills the tree rats dead out to 25-30 yards if my old eyes do their part now that I am 50 years old and soon to be 51. LOL

An old mossburg m144 stock refinished by dad barrel cut to 20in. Puts cci minimags in 1 jagged hole at 50yds. Heavy enough to shoot real well, but not to carry on a long hike.

The magazines (even though they are faster to reload the rifle if the mag is loaded) can be lost. If you lose your magazines, now you are limited to a single-shot rifle that isn't easy or quick to reload. Much less to lose with a marlin model 60, 39, or a Henry lever.

Faulty logic. Say I have a detachable mag fed Savage, one mag in the rifle, a few mags in my pack. If I accidentally drop the mag over my back and lose the one, I still have extras in my pack. If I lose my pack, I still have the one in the rifle...

Now, say I have a tube fed Marlin. I've lost a few mag tube plungers (the brass tube, housing the spring and follower) over the last 20yrs in Marlin 60's by bumping them wrong then leaning over while hunting. I only have one of those tube plungers, and it's gone...

So no, I don't agree with the logic.

But again, this isn't a "what's a good bug out .22lr?" thread, it's a "what's your go-to 22lr?" thread.

+1
A guy I work with was telling us he needed a good .22 rifle. That's why he bought an M&P .22 . It's real accurate with the tasco red dot he says.

I guess that's what people like these days. And who can blame them, fox squirrels get pretty big round here. Never know when you will need to fight your way out

For sure... BTW, from what I understand the M&P .22 is an excellent choice in that genre.

My comment was not to slander the M&P 22. I'm sure it's a great rifle. Just not what I envision when I think of a light, slim fast pointing woods walker

I've walked the woods with a list of 22 rifles in my day and never found one I didn't like. If you're just looking for a good day of plinking, and you're not worried about someone calling you a mall ninja or whatever, you can have a lot of fun with an M&P in 22LR.

Besides, you'll be more able to "fight your way out" if necessary.
