Your Pic of the Day

Just got done camping last week at a place called Crutcher Crossing. It's literally in the middle of nowhere. It's a long hard 4-wheel trail down to the Owyhee River. Hot and dry desert country into a river oasis.

Got to do some really good fishing on a river that rarely sees a fisherman. From what we could tell, nobody had been there this year. We had to clear fallen trees on the trail in in a couple of spots. Between the wife and I we caught 104 Smallmouth Bass in two days of fishing. Probably unfair for the fish, I doubt any of them had ever seen a lure before. The were aggressive and feisty, and gave us more fun fishing than we've had in a long time.

It was a fun trip even though we all took the Geriatric Brigade vehicles, not one of them was under 40. They overheated in the desert heat so we had to stop and cool them down a few times. My truck had carb issues that we were able to make adjustments too, the points went out on the Scout, the GMC had some carb issues as well, but we were able to keep it going. It's a little stressful being that far from help, but all in all we made it work and had a ton of fun!

Fly fishing in the mountain streams is a blast. Don't think I'd get so far off track though.
It's really fun, though, to get that far off track. We didn't see another person the entire time, which for me is the best part.
There are a bunch of these river crossing out here in the desert on many different rivers and streams. Each one offers a different and unique trip and ride in. For me, these are the absolutely best places to go camping, fishing and hunting. They offer challenges and rewards that just can't be matched where the huddled masses go to play.

Priceless! In the 1950's we fished areas of Washington beach in northern Mexico which was only accessible w/4x4's and seldom saw another soul, but they're all gone now. Guess there's a lot of pristine real estate out west; enjoy it while you can, take lots of pictures and make lots of memories. Thanks for sharing.
