IIRC Colorado closed or destroyed all the old mines to protect tourists from danger. Many of the camps I visited as a kid were gone when my kids were young.
 
Look at the beard on that tom from this morning.... homeboy was dragging it all over the ground!



Also added my new shooting lane in that I cut this fall...

Wife and I enjoyed the ride along, Dave. I have one question.
A small RV was parked there, but the people were nowhere to be seen (a ladies top near the spring indicated they may have taken cover in a hurry as we pulled up…). The warm springs were just too inviting. So we spent some time just soaking some of the dust away.

Great story Dave! Enjoyed the read and seeing all the sites and scenery through your photos. Would love to make it out there one of these days and take a trip like that myself and see that stuff, except the rattlesnake, not a fan of snakes.

Thanks for sharing it with us stuck in the east.
