Your Pic of the Day

Ive heard the contact whistle several times. Even got a good trailcam video of one whistling. Ive only heard one screaming once, nov 2023, i was deer hunting and a lion came and parked her ass about 75 yards from me and screamed her head off for 5 minutes or so. As soon as she started a heavy fog rolled in, and it started getting dark. I had already filled me cougar tag a week or two earlier.
Heres my tcam video of the contact whistle.

Yes it is. I purchased it from his widow as she prepared to move to smaller quarters. Only mount I own that I did not shoot, but it means as much to me as any of the others.
Thats cool you kept his buck. My dad died last august, and i kept 3 of his. 2 whitetail and 1 blacktail. Heres his biggest buck. Killed it on his property after obsessing over it for several years, and i got to telling him man, give it up, hes never shown during daylight. Its not gonna happen. Youre wasting season after season for this buck youve never seen outside of dark tcam pics. Well 2019 he slipped up came in to an estrous wick during shooting hours. My dad sent a tooth in, age came back 9 yrs old. We figured he was 9 or 10. Was a stud 140ish 5x5 in 2014. His biggest years were 2017 / 2018. Shrunk noticeably by 2019 when he got him. Dont remember exactly but i think gross was right around 171". Net would be significantly less. To put him in perspective, the euro next to him taped out at exactly 156".

Very nice bucks! Don't blame you for hanging on to your dad's mounts.
IDK what will happen to mine as my son has a house full of African mounts, including two leapords, a lion and umpteen buffalo and plains game. He did say he wanted my biggest buck (the one in the center). Don hunted with me for 37 years & was looking over my shoulder when I shot the 170 (middle) and the 154 (right). I found the left one's wide rack and double brow tines unique; it was the largest of the three bucks, field dressed 175# which is heavy for our area.

Now, we want to see your lion! Always wanted to hunt lion and wolf, but the clock ran out.

Yeah, had that sound follow me down a mountain in NM, lol. Being a Southerner I thought is was a cow elk, yeah didn’t know any better! It wasn’t until I told my Aunt and Uncle about the crazy cow elk that followed me down in the dark when my Aunt played that sound and asked if that’s what I heard, lol. I just didn’t know any better. I was thinking the entire time why is this “elk” following me instead of running off.

Well just a little bit ago, sitting on my couch reading a book, cell cam chirped at me. Bear heading my way. Looked out the window and here he comes. Anyway stepped out on my porch and told him to get lost, but he wasnt very impressed. So i stepped back inside and grabbed my 357 off the coffee table and dumped the whole cylinder. That sent him runnin. Then i thought about how much 8 rouds of swift a frames cost and im now regretting that move.
