Your Pic of the Day

I made a decision last week that it was time to beat myself up once again, so I rented a log splitter and went at it.
I bled several times and have the bruises to show that I got beat up a bit, but got the job done.
Got a good start on this years wood supply, but still have a little bit more to cut up, and some trees to finish bucking.
Then, rinse and repeat for next year.

This is where I started:

I'm probably weird, but I still love working with firewood!

That's exactly why I use wood.
Somewhere around 2012 I got fed up with $400-500 power bills every month.
Bought a wood stove and it paid for itself in the first year.
Haven't regretted it yet.
If it were not for allergies I too would be a wood burner. I love the work involved with gathering fire wood. I also loved hauling small square hay bales. I know, folks said I must be crazy!

I used to love bucking hay too, but last year I blew my MCL out on my left knee. It took over 6 months to heal and it's still not 100%.
The bales were first cutting and about 120 pounds. Simply lifting and pivoting on the knee about 150 times to throw the bale on the trailer was all it took.
Crazy thing was, it didn't hurt while I was bucking or afterwards, but the next day the knee was toast. This year I've only moved about a hundred bales and that was from a stack on to the trailer and than restacking. I'm far more conscientious of my knee though.
