In that respect, I think there’s merit to scent lok head cover because it covers your mouth and nose and surely helps reduce your exhaled scent.

good points......

just like covering your mouth on stand with a scarf........your breath will not travel as predominetly as fast to be detected......will it be detected if crossed...yes...can it take longer to be detected if you cover your mouth.......sure it can.....just be objective....that's it!

im liking this thread a lot of what MAArcher and Reid are saying makes sense to me. I am not one to practice cent control on stand or really any other time for that matter but I might just do some experiments with some of these ideas because I really don't have much better to do. and for the record I don't think the dog would have been able to pick out who was touching the explosive due to the fact that there were 4 of us hddled around the back of the hmmwv and after handling u assumed mopp4 with overboots and all that were never contaminated. I guess its possible but the dog would have to be a whole lot smarter than me because iven if I could see schent I wouldn't have been able to figure that one out

I always find it funny when guys are filling up at the gas station or at a restaurant with there gear on stinking it up. Yes you can always play the wind but it's still a gamble what direction the animal will come from. Since I went scent free I've seen more deer and noticed the deer are way more relaxed when down wind. Just my 2 cents. Originally Posted By: cnc manI don't think it can hurt but it's not critical. I do get a few killed though.

theres no need to laugh at you Scott were all just jealous because we just don't have thousands of private acres to access with uncalled coyotes to hunt like u do....a diff situation requires a diff approach...good luck guys!

Reid, you're sadly mistaken if you think I hunt uncalled coyotes. I feel you're insinuating that my success is due to my location. I do get lucky sometimes but I assure you there's a reason I consistently kill coyotes. There are HUNDREDS of guys in my area that have never called a coyote and they try and try and try.

however u can still lessen or decrease your scent cone with simple practices to help increase the time a coyote MAY LINGER for a shot should they scent u

I start using scent free soap/deodorant and use it throughout the season on all my clothes and no cologne for work as it gets in your truck

I take a water only shower to try and remove the oil from my skin before I go

I leave my exterior clothes outside to air out all season just hanging on lawn chairs on back porch unless its rains or snows

I don't wear the same boots to get there as I hunt in (why because u can walk in a convenient store they just bleached the floor or filling gas as suggested and it adds to your cone)

will this keep a coyote from smelling me ABSOLUTELY NOT

will this keep my scent cone closer to me and maybe not as lets say for lack of better term as HOT ILO not doing these things sure it will

u CANNOT eliminate yourself/hormones/pharamones/skin oil whatever term u choose to use FACT

u CAN CONDENCE your bodies/clothing smell output with common sense and practice PERIOD

none of this is special or takes extra work its just changing your practices a bit beforehand..........in the hopes that it MAY get u those FEW VALUBLE SECONDS we all LUV at just the right moment and that's it.

good luck!

I can do everything you mentioned here plus some or i could get gas, wear cologne, eat a hamburger and fart every 30 seconds and make the same 100 identical stands and call the same amount of coyotes.

p.s. I do not have scent lock clothing. SCOTT i felt u were insinuating that nobody need to change clothes so no what im actually insinuating is if i had the land to call u had and told me about that i could probably hunt it the way u do and not change my clothes either and stated diff situations require diff tactics...no more no less

i felt u were insinuating that nobody need to change clothes and they could kill coyotes too as easily as u do wherever they are......... and private land is private not public land

but i don't i have private and what little public i do make the most of it and try my best and try to let others know that have it this hard some small simple things they might do to help themselves.......not come on like i can do it this way so everyone should do be able to do it this way like some insinuate..........no more no less....good luck guys!!!!!

I don't have much use for scent control clothes. I believe they are a gimmick, waste of money.

Scott, I remember having to put my cigarette down to shoot deer, back when I smoked. Or smoking in my truck before a coyote stand. I don't recommend smoking or farting on stand.

Guess I am just not as dedicated on scent control. Perhaps I could have called in more if I was.

I pretty much just play the wind, and limit movement when I can.

I don't care where you're at or what the circumstances are there's absolutely no need to change clothes.

I called coyotes near X mass with a santa suit. Hundreds of kids had sat on that suit...

I just prefer to shoot the coyotes before they get to my scent cone. Just my tactic. Try it and see if it works.

Waste of money in my opinion. If your breathing animals will smell you. If you want scent control clothing, take your clothes and put them in a garbage bag along with some sagebrush, pine branches, etc (depending on environment your hunting in)and leave them in there for a few days. Far more effective and a lot cheaper.

completely agree.........i put some pines from neighbors tree and some leaves in the bottom on my plastic tubs my gear stays in over summer.....
thumbup1.gif

don't u guys waste to much time colleting pines or leaves though its all of two to three minutes to find them and drop them in the tub.........wait maybe u shouldn't even put your gear in a tub as that could take another two or three minutes and theres no sense wasting time guys......hahahahahaha......good luck guys!!!!!!

Reid, your lack of success obviously has you upset. The good thing about the Internet is you can know absolutely nothing about a subject and comment on it all day like you're an expert.
