Zeiss customer service

Zeiss received my 4.5x14x44 scope for warranty work this past week. It wouldn't hold a zero for anything. I'm curious to see how long it takes for them to correct it and put in a plex reticle in place of the German #4. Stay tuned.....

Are we guessing?

I say 45 days till response

6 months till you recieve a lower end scope.

1 year and many letters to get what you willingly sent in.

If it is a Conquest don't hold your breath. They told me they are no longer repairing them and you get a Terra as a replacement.
They never contacted me, but when I called it was like that's what they were waiting for.

Hmm, the scope was a Conquest, hope I get one back. I've never looked through a Terra but love my Conquests on my calling rifles. How do they compare??? Thanks

Last week I called about a Conquest and was told that they don't work on them. Let us know the results on this,,,,

I would like to change the reticle on mine too. FWIW I was told there was another place in the USA that worked on them. I will try to find it.

I recently had an AMAZING experience with Zeiss's customer service. I purchased a used Conquest, and when it arrived I found that the previous owner abused it to say the least. Glass was scratched, turrets were mangled, etc. I called Zeiss and they said to send it in along with their service form. I got a call a week later saying that it was received and they would take a look. A week or two after that I received another call saying that they no longer repair the Conquest line. They offered a replacement in the form of the comparable model of their new HD5 with my choice of reticle. It arrived shortly after that and I love the scope.

Based on that alone I immediately purchased another Zeiss, and they are on my "buy list". That's not to say that they are always so accommodating, but they did right by me.

Thanks to all, I will see how this turns out. My tracking number shows they've had it about a week now. I've yet to hear from them. Soon I hope. Thanks Cherokee, It seems I will not get the same scope back from other's experience. Too bad, it's brand new. I just hope the replacement is as nice. I'm sure it will be, fingers crossed.

I'very been considering that scope and the Leupold vx-r 4-12x50mm for a Rem 788 in 22-250, both about the same price.

I'm interested learning about your experience with Zeiss, however, living in a very rural area and next to wilderness, customer service can't be a question mark.

If it all works out positive, there's a 243 that needs glass.

Zeiss customer service gave me a choice of two Terra models.I chose one blindly. Received the scope packaged and padded huge.
Called them today, very unsatisfied and returned it. Sounds like they are going to replace it with a better model.

This is not t good CS, they should either repair what you sent or any replacement should be a upgrade.

Update,
When I received the Terra it's packaging alone led me to believe it may be fragile.
The reticle was very disappointing and the eye relief was minimal. It felt heavy and large with a so-so eye box.

Today FedEx delivered a replacement Conquest HD5 3-15.
Initial impressions are favorable, good packaging and weight/size. The eye relief and eye box are good.
The glass and reticle look sharp and bright. Parallax markings are minimal but will suffice.
Will check out coatings in the sun later.

I had a recent experience with Zeiss customer service. I had a Conquest 6.5-20x50 with plex reticle get a piece of debris on the crosshair on the inside at 9 o'clock. Plus the side focus wasn't working. My friend's Leupold vx3 6.5-20x40 with AO blew away the Zeiss on resolving bullet holes at 200 yards. I couldn't believe it. I knew something was wrong.

Anyway, I sent it back to Zeiss with a letter after I called them. The nice lady on the phone stated that it was no longer in production and they would replace it with an HD5 5-25x50.

I asked for the varmint reticle when they sent the replacement. Since the one I sent in had a plex reticle I offered to pay an upcharge if there was one. The lady told me there wouldn't be any up charge, and she would send me the varmint reticle.

The whole process took about 6 weeks door to door, but I did receive a brand new HD5 5-25x50 with Rapid Z varmint.

Couldn't have asked for more from a company.

Some of you have some uplifting stories about Zeiss and some of your stories are scary. I hope mine ends well, I've yet to hear from Zeiss. I'm curious as to how long it will take them to contact me. This particular scope is the highest end one I have. I have other good ones but money wise it's tops in my collection. Waiting......

I used to use alot of Zeiss products in the Victory line. When the Conquest was introduced, I tried them out and they aren't bad for the money. I have had 4 Conquest scopes that went in for warranty work, 2 of them for internal debris. Since Zeiss didn't repair the Conquest scopes on this side of the ocean, they sent the exact same models as replacements. No questions asked.

Then along comes the Terra and HD5 lines, along with some policy changes that I was not aware of. I bought a 3-15 Conquest HD to try out. There wasn't enough adjustment in the side focus to get a proper clear focus beyond 400 yards, let alone get rid of the parallax. I called Zeiss and they said it would need to go back to Germany.

Days turned into weeks, weeks into months. When I got it back Zeiss had done nothing and I had an invoice telling me the scope is within their specifications. Frankly I got screwed. The scope now resides on a .22 rimfire rifle. That's right, an HD5 3-15 on a .22.

I am over it folks. For mid range price stuff I am back to Leupold VX3 scopes. For all of my long range stuff, it's Nightforce all the way. No more Zeiss, no more Trijicon (another horror story), and no more Schmidt and Bender (rolling globe effect).

Well,
Maybe they have someone new in customer service. This thread came to a conclusion today. Never heard a peep from Zeiss. Today I received a brand spanking new Conquest HD5 3x15x42 in the mail. It looks really nice and of course I appreciate them replacing the Conquest with a nice scope. Thanks to all for your input. Zeiss done good !!!!

that is why I only will buy Leupold n/c repairs and a 1-2 week turn around, great people,I once had a scope go bad just before a silhouette match and they received it on a Tues and had it back to me on Thur same week.

I had a Zeiss Conquest crap out on me last year....what a headache...I had a long thread going on here about it. Eventually after numerous calls and complaints up the chain I got an HD5. I sold it as soon as it arrived and went with Swarovski. I will never buy another Zeiss product again.
