I just use a shotgun on my red coyotes.

Yep!

I can imagine shot placement is a little easier in traps, be it yours or say.... Someone else's.

I don't shot predators in traps, they get a wack on the melon.

If I hunted in places where the fur was not worthy ,I would use a bigger chambering just for the splat factor. Infact I would probably hunt with every rifle I own, just to test bullets and get the rifles out to play.

Must be running out of ammo, bringing out the cheap shots. I guess when that starts calibers and ammo doesn't matter. Had to dig way back for that one!! LOL Your opinion means nothing to me.

7 pages later, and I still do not understand why people feel the need to justify the cartridge they use on coyotes.

You're right, it's not. I feel no need to justify the equipment I use either.

On a serious note...

I'd love to spend a bunch of time hunting those wide open place coyotes. Looks like a hoot indeed !

I've hunted coyote rich mid and western Texas, it sure makes home a little boring....

I didn't have to reach. I never forgot. It's like a giant neon sign around your name.

I guess I should clarify I wasn't referring to you, sorry I just noticed some of your text got copied as well.

Like I said CZ527, your opinion of me means absolutely nothing. I'm not going to bring myself down to your level and argue something that happened a long time ago and has no bearing on this post what so ever.

I personally think bullet choice plays a huge roll..I think my issue last year was the 55sp wasn't expanding at all on broad side shots.. had one drt with a 50gr VMAX, and so far have had good luck with 55gr varmegeddons.. expect I think I got a batch of [beeep] primers had 3 bad ones out of 100 rounds.

This thread has taken some interesting turns. Now we are into uh.... trap shooting, and lead tipped bullets that don't expand on broad side hits.

Apparently at least one poster here doesn't want others to know that he is a "trap shooter".
