Thier ain't a "best" all around caliber. For anything, for the applications you list the 243 or an AKA 6MM variant would be good, but then you may run into avalibility issues if you choose somthing that is to oddball.And thier ain't no ammo that is cheap anymore. A lot of folks will sya the .223 but it is magrinal, at best for deer sized game. The .25 cal/7MM , like the .243/6MM has several variants, is pretty good all around, but may have a few draw backs. Then you come to the .30 cal again many variants, ammo avalibility is ample for most of the more popular, but they tend to be to much for Coyotes and smaller deer. So it tend to be a personal choice, like pick up trucks, and hair color on women, ya make your pick and ya take your chances.
