Boyds gunstock terrible service

I bought two stocks from Boyds with zero problems but that was a log time ago.
They do seem to be having some growing pains the last few years though.

A while back they renovated the shop. I'm not sure what all was done. They may have added new equipment or enlarged the shop, I don't know. But, orders were late, time frames were off the charts and production was at a crawl and they kept taking orders and giving bad ship dates. I got hung up in the mess and thought I would never get my stock. Boyd's did ship it for free and knocked a few bucks off the price. Last one I ordered I was told two to three weeks and got it in 9 days.

Gosh. I hate to miss that. But like most thngs in Rusty's life, I was way over his head when I went thrugh southern Idaho. Like probably 30-35K feet over his head. Besides, he said he wouldn't come anyway. Nothing against you, B23, but what's a party without Rusty?

We have time from a late morning bite to eat and then onto the next leg of the travel plans for today (another 4 hours) in about 1.5 hours from now. Eveyone have a nice day.

Oh. Psycho, if I misspell something its because I'm on a satellite device. I'll try to keep the syntax intact however so what I'm posting hopefully makes gramatical sense. But, you obviously know first hand how us injuneers can screw stuff up for the smarter peeples in life.

You shouldn't be so bitter toward everone just because your ex got the bigger half of your life. It's SAD, to quote The Rusty.

Well Bill, it's sadly obvious that Whiney Winnys' plane did not crash after takeoff like we both had hoped. Or that at least it would be a month or two before the moron made another post. Oh well. Some people just cannot stand not making an azz out of themselves all the time and sadly, but to be expected, he is back doing it again.

I think that I figured out what kind of engineer that Whiney was. I'm pretty sure that he must have been an sanitation engineer. And obviously he must have swallowed huge amounts of it over the years in able for him to be this full of s#it today. Probably gargled with it on a regular basis is my guess.

Well, maybe this will be the last post that the moron makes for a while. Wow. Would that be wonderful or what? No Whiney at all for an extended period of time? Bliss. Pure bliss.

Almost time to go again, but I have to comment on your post, Rusty. Speaking of someone making an [beeep] of themself.

Considerng that there were about 220 other people, including families, women, and children on my flight, your first sentence is beyond SAD. It's SADLY PATHETIC.

All that so you could once again look at youself in a mirror and not see tomato juice cans?

I don't have a dog in this but we had a sign in the shop when I used to build mining/gravel pit equipment.

Winny Fan is just a Richard Cranium. He's really not even worth the effort to keep up this verbal battle. He is what he is and there's no changing that. You can tell the type of person he is when he has to start insulting your family.

Cabby I strongly apologize that your post got so messed up. Thank Winny for that!!

So very true, Bill. It must suck so bad to have made it to his now advanced age and to be so very unliked by so many people. Sure glad no one else here is like that. Sure glad no one else in the world is like that!

Tsk. Who said anything about anyone dying though? Not me.

Come on gents, let's keep it civil. I can see there is history and some bad blood but let's not hijack someones thread just to sling mud.

You are correct, Snowman. I was wrong to let an imbecilic remark from an imbecile allow me to get carried away. I should not have lowered myself to his level. I will do my best not to let that happen again.

So then...back to Boyd's stocks. Anyone by chance ever ordered a stock set for a 552 Remington from them?

I have read that all Boyd's stocks are fit to their "House Actions". I would think they should fit with minor, if any, fitting on your end. Of all the stocks I have bought from them, usually a few minutes with a file or sand paper was all it took. Most were 100% drop in.

Yeah my Boyds stock for my 455 Varmint, had to open up the barrel channel a bit. Was touching a little. Just took a 1" dowel wrapped with 120 grit sandpaper and opened it up enough to get a dollar bill down between the barrel and stock without any obstruction. Took less than 10 minutes. I think it says/said somewhere on their site that you may need to do some minor fitting. Could of swore I read that somewhere.

It happens to us all. Thank you for that.

I have seen a definite shift in the focus from a lot of companies lately. I would say that it is not unique to Boyd's but more a systemic issue. Customer service has taken a back seat. Of course with today's internet culture, time is everything, and many of us expect immediacy.

I understand the OP's position and appreciate that we recognize that we are not their "only" customer, but a little customer service goes a long way. There is also realistic expectations. If we spend premium money, we can expect a premium product and customer service that supports that. But in manufacturing things can and will happen, especially with "custom" products.

That basically was the point I was trying to make in my very first post. Stuff happens!! Seems it went downhill very fast from there. My apologies to Cabby and to the rest of the members of PM. We should be more considerate of the people that start posts and keep our disputes with other members private.

Bill

I ordered this Laminated Thumbhole from Boyd's for $99.00 a little more than a year ago. I received it in 3 days. It took me 10 minutes to remove the barreled action from my Marlin X-7 and change it out. The gun will cut one ragged hole after another, for as long as I want to sit there and pull the trigger. Most Accurate .223 I own.
