Browning A-bolt 308 Pics Outshoots Rem 700

It's kinda crazy lookin', but i wanted something different.

Do you like the PA knob better than the Badger shifter?

I really like this one here that Karl did for me. It is much smaller than the Badger shifter on my 308, but much bigger than the factory Winchester one it had. Karl calls it the "hunter" knob I think.......

I do prefer the PA shifter over the Badger.

I am planning on having Karl put that Hunter knob on my 243AI build. I like the shape/design of the badger, but it's just a little too bulky for me. The one you just posted would be just about perfect, I think.

Is Karl still doing that right now, or did he stop taking all orders?

Supposedly he is only doing fluting right now, other than all the builds he has going. He has actions lying all over the place. BATS, Stillers, Remmys, Surgeons(sorry, no A-bolts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)....All over. However, I have been known to slip a couple items in through the drive thru, as we call it........

2MG,..I LOVE the MP8 reticle and the clicks on the IOR are (beleive it or not) stiffer than the Nightforce NXS /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The 308 in quaestion was originaly built by Seely Masker,..and has been touched up since. 1/3moa at 300yds /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Lemme first say, if I were gonna build a custom, it'd probably be a remmy action, but not one of their stock rifles! But, I think this guy was talking about a factory rifle, not some whizbang custom. Abolts are bedded, free-floated, have nice triggers, waay nice wood or nice stiff synthetics (I dinged mine today), have recessed target crowns, and the sweet magazine in the floor plate (I guess some don't like that for some reason) and a short bolt throw. Remmys aren't floated, mediocre triggers (I don't know what the x-mark is like now though) poor, flexy stocks or mediocre wood, and your standard high bolt throw, all for the same price as the browning (about). As a stock rifle, the browing whoops the remmy. As a custom, they both can be awesome shooters. BTW, those guns are sweet, especially that Icon, never seen a custom Icon before, that's freakin' sweet!

Very nice. The click adjustments on the Zeiss conquest are crap. Mush. That is why I no longer like them, even though the glass is top notch. The stiff turret adjustments on Leupolds have spoiled me, I guess, in this regard. Nice rifles......

The A-bort trigger is quite simply the worst in the industry. The trigger/guard floorplate is just as bad. Comparing either of those to a Remington is an exercise in futility.

The 2 main things they changed on the X-bolt were there trigger and the trigger guard/floorplate. I rest my case /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I forgot, You can have your A-Bolty Browning. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I have a stock savage .308 with only a bedding job that will out shoot that stock A-bolt .308 any day of the year. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif The savage cost 1/2 of that b-bolt. 'WITH' a better trigger!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Nothing wrong with that savage...I still retain one in the stable that'll never go anywhere, its a shooter for sure....plus I'd only get a couple hundred bucks it I did decide to sell it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just sold a Savage 308 in a McMillan A3, it was very good shooting rifle......only sold it to fund a 243AI build on a Remmy action.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

MPFD....I have no love for the accutrigger, just couldn't get used to it. I much prefer an adjusted old style savage trigger.

I have no problems with Savages either, although they are not my favorite. I can live without the accutrigger also, even though it is an excellent design.....
