I went over to Gander Mountain yesterday to look around. I never buy anything from them because there prices are to dang high. Anyway I was looking at the burris fullfield II scopes. The only one they had was the tactical and the glass looked pretty clear, I was impressed. When I got home I ordered a burris Fullfield II scope in the 3x9x40 for a hunting scope. The man at GM told me that the glass isnt the same between the tactical and the standard hunting. I can hardly believe this since they both are fullfield II scopes. Anyone know the facts on this? Thanks Lee

skeetle I don't know if that is true either,I have the scope you ordered and two other fullfield II scopes I see no difference.

I believe this is true. Pretty sure the only difference is the elev and windage knobs. Regardless, IMO, you just ordered one of the best predator scopes for the money on the market. Did you get the ballistic plex reticle?

Yes I bought the ballistic plex 3x9x40 matte finish for 148 bucks nib. I have looked at this scope a dozen times and have always thought it was kick butt, but i never bought one. I would always buy something else that other people said were nice. I did this with a sightron s2 and i do not care for this scope much. I should have boughten the burris to begin with. Lee

I have two 4.5-14x44 Burris FFII Bal. Plx. scopes on AR's. One is an older (US made) regular scope, the other is the Tactical (newer Phillipine made). The only difference is the finish and the knobs; tactical scope has green finish and target knobs. I can tell no difference in optics or tracking on the two scopes.

Also have four 3-9x40 FFII Bal. Plx. scopes on various hunting and predator rifles; all have excellent glass.

Burris is excellent quality and you got a great price; think you'll enjoy your new scope.

Regards,
hm

Any way you can cancel/delay your order until you get the information you need? Might be prudent if that is important to you on the purchase of this item. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I look through scopes all the time at stores to find the one I want then usaully spend a few hours on the internet until I find the cheapest one. For the lower power scopes like 3-9x40 you can always find Burris, Bushnell Elite 3200 and others much cheaper than the retail stores on Ebay.

Lee you will love that scope. I have the pentax 4x12 which has the same reticle and in the same scope essentially as the FFII on my current AR and will be put on my .204 when I get it.

scsims,
I am with you and Lee if the store can't compete in price then the person who does have the best price get my business.

Boy who is this guy! I dont remember asking you your opinion on where or how i spend my money. A matter of fact i know i didnt ask you so butt out pal. Maybe you have more money than i but dont you know gas is dam near 4 bucks a gallon. and as far as the guy working behind the counter he doesnt give a crap where i spend my money. most of the people working behind the counter at Gander Mountain or Cabalas or where ever it may be dont have a clue on whats what anyway. I do my home work and i go for the best deal, thats called smart shopping! Or maybe you are not smart enough to figure that out. I am sorry guys i really try to keep my cool on here but dip wits like this guy get me mad as hell!!!!! Lee

This is probably the silliest thread that skeet has come up with and there are way too many from him to chose from. So gas is expensive but yet you have plenty of it to go down and window shop. The guy behind the counter puts some doubt in his mind as to what he is getting then to solve the problem he make the natural progression by ordering it? [beeep]. Then asks questions about it on the internet. Would it not be smarter to ask the questions first then buy it????

This is at least the third thread this weekend where the basic question is "Hey guys I just bought _________ do you think it is any good"? If you had doubts why not ask first?

To the rest of you tightwads what I don't get is how you guys don't mind testing somebody elses equipment then buying it elsewhere automatically. It does cost money to keep a storefront open so you have the convience to look at things in person. Not say where anybody should spend their money but think about that someday when storefronts are gone or selection is poor and you can't just look at anything you want. To the guy who then spends hours on the internet what is your time worth? Three hours of price research should be factored into the amount of the item.

Edit in fairness after a PM from skeetlee: I will say that in paragraph two I should clarify that skeetlee did not make the three question posts refered to, his was only one. These were done by three separate posters.

Everything else stands as is.

Skeetlee I don't think what you did was any thing wrong as far as looking at the product and then look around for the best deal, if the store would have had the best deal I'am shure you would have bought it from them, makes sense to get the best price as keeping a store going and making money thats the guy that owns the dang thing problem .I go to cabelas to look and to some times buy but I feel no debt to the store if I ask to look and then buy somewhere else .
