Burris Fullfield II question

Point well taken I.O.N. I know what you are talking about and I don't care for that much either, but what I hate even worse is when I do get to the counter only to encounter someone behind it that is doing nothing but spewing B.S. and pretending to know what he is talking about. Suddenly he's wasting my time instead of the other way around.

In the end there is no perfect solution I guess, because people are not perfect (consumers, retailers or onliners), but I think that in order to make a good purchase in regards to price AND product it probably behooves (spelling?) us all to research our information from more than a single source.

I try to do that and have received good info from all of the above mentioned resources at one time or another. I buy from retailers and from online shops. I guess I like to spread it around??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Did I read some place about knock off Leupolds on e bay? or was that somebody was buying reconditioned Burris at Academy and selling them on e bay? I don't remember the whole story but $148 is a great deal for that piece of equipment. Congratulations on the find. Denny

Hell I did this just Saturday,
I spent $30 in gas to go to the nearest Sportsmans Warehouse to check out a Bushnell Elite 4200 to see what the glass was like. I had every intention of buying the scope from a very popular online retailer. I took the time to compare the Elite 4200, the VXIII, and the Zeiss Conquest. I never had any intention of buying the glass there. I learned what I needed to and then compared several handguns, which I also had no intention of buying there. I pay more at the local Mom & Pop gun shop, but they don't carry all the guns I typically want to look at, so I compare elsewhere and then have them order it in.

I always figured that the employees were there to assist me with my shopping needs, they get paid for their time so I certainly don't feel bad about asking them to do their job. The retailers job is to make me want to buy the product, good prices are typically a good way to do that. Heck, the Optic Zone has a Nikon Monarch 5-20x 44 for $70 cheaper than what I saw in Sportsman's Warehouse.

My guess is a company would rather have you drive 100 miles to the store and "waste" a bit of an eemployees time, and probably buy something else while you are there, than just order the item over the internet and skip coming to their store all together. And yes I did purchase other stuff while I was their that I wouldn't have drove all that way for without the opportunity to look through the scopes and handle the guns.

A company who has a really good policy on this is Scheel's with their price match system. Come to their store and show them a print out, or add for the same product and they will match the price advertised (no auction sites like e-bay, gunbroker, etc.).

If I ever come along a store that has a banner above the door saying "Don't Waste Our Time", I'll be sure and honor their request and go elsewhere.

On the other hand there is something to be said for being able to hand over x amount of $ and walk out the store with the product you want. Through the computer/internet transaction I tried to make for that Bushnell 4200 there was some sort of error and I ended up getting charged for 3 scopes and not having any actually ordered (shipped), so I've got $800+ tied up in the transaction and no scope in hand or on the way. Although I'm confident the company in question will straighten it out, and I will try and order it again through them.

I will tell you another reason why i will not buy from GM other than rediculas prices. All there scopes are usually on display and are full of fingerprints other kinda marks i have no idea of what they are. I had to ask the salesman to clean the lens before i could look through the scope. I will give you one guess how he cleaned it, yep with his tee-shirt.
The guns are out on display and are covered in finger prints, with rush starting to show. Oh ya and over at the reloading supplies most all of the bullet boxes are opened and who knows how many bullets are missing, and for $22 dollars I better get all 100 of those 55gr v-max's. So if you think i am going to spend my money on that kinda crap, your crazy!! And please dont give me the old line-well you didnt tell us that- thats right i didnt, I asked if the glass was the same in the standard Fullfield as it is in the Tactical Fullfield. So dont just start shooting your mouth off because you dont care for me, Because the only person that looks silly here Dave is you, and thats to bad, because the way I under stand it, you are a decent fella at least thats what i have been told.
