Cougar pics...

Thanks much for all the kind words fellas! I'm not sure which was better. Getting a longtail or being able to remove a big chunk of chick decorations off of a wall to hang that puppy. LOL! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

J. Holly, that poor cougar was choking when I found it so I attempted the Heimlich maneuver. Ha Ha. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

mn--17hmr, I was using a 22-250.

Brad, you are right about it being a long summer. Kind of scary. It's unheard of being able to drive this time of year where I was hunting. Usually at least a couple more months before the snow melts enough to go up there.

Jerry, you would have nailed it too. Like I said, there wasn't much time to get excited. It was all over pretty quick. The exciting part was going to look for it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Blaze thanks. You are right. Cascades in the back. I live in WA.

Bob, no magazine articles for this guy. I doubt Mike would want any pics. Dunno, I'll have to ask. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks again guys.

Take care and good hunting

Curt

Awsome Curt, your a big fella and that cat looks like it would of given you a good toe to toe scrap if it got close to you. Nice shot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Pretty country for sure.

Pucker facter 1 if I'd called that big boy in. Did you weigh that monster???

Congrats and great pictures and story... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Envy is such an ugly emotion to express, & I'm feelin offly
"ugly" right now. alot of people have patted your back on this one and I believe it is all deserved!!!

Was it a male or female? and how long did it stretch out?
please fill us in, and cudo's to you........

Curt, Curt, Curt.... Wow.

Excellent job, excellent cat and thanks for sharing with us.

I think if I ever killed a cougar I could quite predator hunting. Well, er, maybe just for a little while.

This may be one of the all time great posts... Clear pics and some with added graphics, thorough hunt description... made me feel like I was there (except I'm here in NY dreaming of awesome hunts)

thanks for sharing!

Congratulations Curt! I am really happy for you.

Ya know, I had a feeling you were going to be posting lion pics one of these days. Your an excellent predator hunter who knows a lot about how this game works and I knew you were going to connect on one soon.

Great job.

Thanks a lot you guys. My pleasure sharing. Really appreciate the internet pats on the back. Makes it all the more special. Been wanting a cougar for some time.

mainkiller, you are right, I won't forget that day.

Dogboy, that's a scrap I hope I never get into. LOL!

Rusty and others that asked, the lion vocalizations were off a old JS tape I had for my 512 caller. Yote, if your caller is programmable, you can put it on with a PG-1 adapter.

Lonny, thanks bud. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The sex, weight and length. Sex was a female. Length was 82". Not sure on the weight. Definitely not a lunker compared to some of the big males out there. I'll keep it though. When the stomach was checked it was completely empty. No kittens either.

I want to take a second to thank my friend John. He checks in here once in awhile. He hunts with me quite a bit and does taxidermy work for me when I need it. Puts up with me bringing dead critters over on a Sunday night. ha ha (guess I should thank his wife too) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif He skinned and prepared this cat for tanning and being made into a rug. I watched him do a lot of the work. Gives a whole new respect to the taxidermy trade. The guy is just meticulous. He always puts 110% into his work and it shows. Anyway, thanks John if your out there.

Thanks again for the nice comments guys.

Good hunting, Curt
