1-fresh adult coyote is plenty for any dog to handle. Let alone a pr or a family group of coyotes. Old coyote hunter friend of mine raised a female coyote. He also had coyote killing sighthounds, in high fenced pens.
This female coyote whom roamed their yard freely[family pet?]. Did not like one of his large female sighthounds. That was in her own pen. The two canines detested eachother, specifically. All his other dogs were males. Et would've loved to been turned loose on that coyote.
One day, that coyote climbed an 8'high extended chain link fence & commenced to wail on that lone dog. Up until that day. That large dog couldn't climb out of her high pen. Well, she did that day to get away from the coyote's butt kicking.
Larry ended up shooting his pet coyote.
I've spoken with other farmers & acrege owner's. Whom have had pr's or family groups of coyotes. Pile onto their dogs which were NOT penned outside. But either chained outside or roamed the land freely.
A pr of coyotes whom hold the land a person lives on. Well, expect the locals to eventually pay your dog a visit. He/she, best be tough or penned up. Or that dog will have heck to pay. I believe the locals view a pet as a tresspasser. They don't like tresspasser's.
A fresh coyote is full of kick hiney[buzz-zaw]. They are a blur in a fight. Faster than any dog I've ever seen fight. Even when being killed by dogs. The last body part moving on a coyote, that is dieing. Is most often, their jaws.
