I found a cool app for the smart phone. It's called Lunafaqt. It's a free app. It shows current moon phase, moon rise, transit (peak), moon set, sunrise/sunset, twilight start/end times and has calanders that show moon phases thoughout each month.
It should come in handy, no more looking up phases and rises on the computer. Kinda nice to have all the info right in the hand.
Anyone have a any luck last night?
We made 3 sets last night, we had 2 show up but were spooked
For some reason so didn't have a shot, seems like
There on the move.
Would like to get out tonight but won't be able, have some new spots i'd like to hit. Going to No Dak for Christmas and do some daytime calling. Will hit the moon when we get back. Good luck to all...let's hear some stories and see some pics.
Called one in on the Mn river for a buddy last night. Got her to about 120 yards and I sat there waiting for him to shoot. She takes off back down the river and stops about 200 yards to look back. Then he fires and ends up taking the top of her head off. He said he had to turn when she was closer and thats why she took off.
Made 5 other sets and nothing but fresh tracks and a pile of deer hair at one of them. Clouds moved in about 12:30 and put a stop to the hunting.

Where in ND you heading?
Have a Merry Christmas everyone and happy hunting.
Made one set last nite and called one in. My new gun missfired bolt did not seat. Today I cleaned the R15 and will try wed. nite again. What type of lube do most of you AR15 guys use in the cold?
From what I've gathered you should run the firing pin assembly dry in ultra cold weather. I neglected to do that and had a misfire on a dead to rights fox tonite which ended the hunt (that and my two kids were uncomftorably cold). On the one and only other set we had a bobcat sounding off to us but couldn't pick it out in the crp grass before it got downwind of us with the minimal snow cover.
