December moon

Came home after 3 sets last nite. Frist 2 where M/T except for the owl and no new tracks. The thrid set a red fox came in on my right side running out to the call. When I started to move for the shot the fox turned back. It took about 6 barks to make him stop. One shot from my 204 and I had my frist red down. The shot was 66 snowshoe steps. Going out tonite too.

Yes was in that country most of the nite. Most the traffic I was seeing was lots of young kids driveing around.

4 parts Mobile 1 synthetic motor oil 10w30 with 1 part(or a little less) ATF fluid. I've shot yotes at -5 without issue, and after a couple hundred rapid fire rounds at 95 degrees, it's still in place, doing what it should. Cleans up great with break free. Plus 1 qt will last for ever.

Just got in its 4:49am made many differnt sets lots of talkers tonight and only one came in to 124 yards and nocked him down with 22-250 was pretty chilly to start the nite.
 
I made it to 2 spots last night.

1st one was a blank.

Next spot had a pickup by it with snowshoes beside it. I was beat to it.

The next I walked about a half mile west off the road to a pasture that was 400 yards long and then thick CRP for a half mile, then the DesMoines river.

I put my foxpro on a fence post. Walked about 20 yards to the north.

Less then 5 mins of pheasant distress I see one charging from the west. It stopped at 200 ish yards away. I lowered the volume on the caller.

It then trotted to the right and started barking and jumping like it picked me out or something. Then he stopped again. Bang flop. 210 steps.
The 25dti from dtech with 100 gr bullets really smacks em. I'm shooting these cuz I had them loaded for wolves.

Thanks for all the info guys on AR lube. After cleaning I used what I had for now. Rem oil with teflon. It sure worked last friday nite. Nice looking male coyote Kollincoyote.
 
Well apparently my area has become a free for all of callers. every spot I used to call has tire tracks and footprints. There was even some idiot calling the same fields we called the night before. I think I am going to stop calling the local areas and start further west. I doubt they even had permission a I was given soul rights on a few of the spots.

I don't have an ar but I have not had good luck with rem oil. Usually use break free.

Was out last night. Two sets in two of my best spots and never heard or seen anything.

I guess I don't really have a go to call. Some seem really loud and aggressive and some don't. Last night there was no wind so I figured I would go with the less aggressive sounds.

And I can't believe it worked. It was amazing actually. Haha

I've been out with a buddy who has lightning jack and that sounds like it means business for sure. I'm putting it into my caller when I get a chance

And I have not had good luck with rem oil either. My M2 Benelli hates it. I've had it jam duck hunting.

Switched to CLP in the aerosol can for everything now.
 
Way to go Kollin. I went out the other nite. Started with a locate howl. Got a responce. Then went in to a distress call and waited. about 10 minutes later I had two coyotes howl not 30 yards behind me. That will make the hair stand up on your neck. The coyotes went down a fence line came out in the field took aim but couldn't see the cross hairs, the clouds covered the moon just enough. I tried to line up but it didn't work. I missed. At least I had some excitement.
 
Clyde the clouds have been here too.. It sucks. But at least you made it out and got some action.

Were you in a 1 mile section or bigger.

With all the coyotes you guys got up there they should running right into your lap!!!

One guy I talked to has been using spotlight and centerfires, had to inform him of the laws. Spent better part of day scouting new areas and came up with a handfull of spots half a tank later. Most will give it up after they discover it's not as easy as it appears on t.v. Heck, most my calling partners have given it up! Gotta really have the desire to stick with this sport.

I hear ya. I found a few thousand acres east of me and some spots around Brainerd but it is tough like you said with gas the way it is and finding people to go. I am heading out tonight with a buddy to try some new ground. Have you ever hunted south of Wadena? I was thinking I have access on a farm south of Verndale so maybe I will knock on a few doors down there.
 
We had our annual friends tourney last night. 4 teams, 11 guys total. We ended up the lucky team with 2 nice looking coyotes. One other team got a nice male, 32.5lbs. The coyotes were very vocal all night. We hunted from 9pm-9am. Very tired in the am. We ended with 7 sets. Scored on #6 and #7. Saw a total of 4 coyotes. First one came in after 25 mins of distress. My bother slapped him at 127 steps. Next set we started with distress, 2 min mark a nice coyote came very hard to 40yds! I shot her, and that was a blast because it ended up a daytime Coyote. 7:45 am. Waccum saw a coyote and a fox. Haven't heard from tka-250 or new coyote yet to see how there evening went.
