Deep conceal gun?

Hahaha, but then you can lower your roll on top of it and hide it. Anotehr option is ankle carry or small of the back, which work well for guys who have some extar baggage

Just like some of you guys, I got to much belly to carry anything on the waist comfortably. I rely on a shoulder holster more these days when I carry. Sometimes on the bare skin with justa light shirt over it for short term outings. It's a lot easier to CC in cool weather when you have to wear more clothes

I have carried every style of pistol over the years.I am hard to please.Small 380 auto carries good but cartridge to small..45 is what I like but most are a little hard for me to carry with my back trouble.ON and on.Something about everything I have that I like and don't like.Right now I am using a Ruger sp101 2 1/4 barrel .357.Have dehorned it till it don't bite my belly. It is 357 which is a good round. It only has 5 shots, wish it was at least 6.After market grips which make it nicer to shoot.Changed the springs so double action is better, shoots pretty good at not to far range. But,the overall plan is keep my eyes open and be gone when the trouble starts. That has worked well so far,and I try to stay out of those places. But the way things are now who knows when some nut or crack head is going to catch you in a tight place.A small revolver has a lot going for it.This is all JMO.Good luck on your choice.

it is the one that is always in your pocket no matter the size if you don't have it on you it is a waste.so if you can carry a 380. or 45. if it goes every where comfortable then it is the best.i hope you get my meaning.

The only place that is comfortable most of the time is front IWB. Still have to wear oversized shirts.. Not wide enough to wear a side draw. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! Where I carry is comfortable.. The LCR is de-horned at birth and being a revolver, I have a little more faith in its operation..Also, 5 shots of .357 mag could be handy in a pinch.. I was looking for a "Happy Medium" and so far .. this is it.. FWIW Good luck!

Two things I would recommend that will help in carrying any gun what ever you decide. One is a Quality holster and Two is a good belt that is made for carrying a gun, either heavy leather that is doubled or one with a plastic stiffener. The first time I used one of the belts I could not believe how great it felt compared to the regular belts I had worn.

When I say a quality holster one that helps to keep the gun secure and help carry it on the body. If you have a holster that is uncomfortable or you worry about the gun falling out you will not carry the gun. If you are always grabbing your weapon to check and see if it is there or to adjust it because it hurts you already have given up the fact you are carrying to a knowledgeable person. As lyotehunter said if you don't carry it, it doesn't matter what kind of gun you own. When I qualify guys every year it amazes me how guys will spend several hundred dollars on a new gun but will go to wal-mart to by a 20 dollar holster.

One last thing practice, if you cant hit your target under stress it doesn't matter if you are carrying a .50 cal desert eagle.

Yoteless, take a hard look at the new S&W Sheild in 9 or 40. I laid my hands on a new 40 and I really like it, but they have a very long list of people ahead of me to get one when they get any in at the Fargo Scheels. I am also looking at picking up a J-frame revolver in 357 or 38. I heard where Black Hawk and some other holster companys have a good selection of holsters already for the sheild. Good luck on finding the right gun to fit your needs,----Riflemann

I recently picked up one of the new Diamond Back 9mms for a Summer Carry, to replace my Kel-Tec .32 and my Sig 230 .380, just so I would have a little heftier punch in ammo selection..It's the same as a "mini-Glock" with the exception of the trigger..All other parts are identical...Just mini sized..

I don't have over sized hands and this fits perfectly in a rear blue jean pocket, without much of a print (looks more like a flat wallet)...

When I want to carry it for an IWB, I use a DeSantis holster that also (with belt clip removed) doubles as a pocket holster for a pair if khaki pants in the front pocket and you can't see it normally...

I carry it loaded with seven rounds (6+1) of Hornady 95gr 9mm HPs that have a pretty high velocity..

IMHO, the accuracy is outstanding...when I was going through my break in with FMJ cheap ammo, I was hitting a rectangular block that was approx 5" x 8" placed 53 yards away on a consistent basis..

I personally carry a 40 caliber Kahr PM40 in a IWB holster in the 4 o'clock position. That seemed to be the most comfortable position for me. I also keep a 40 caliber in Glock 23. These are both good size weapons for conceal carry.

I like to think that if I'm in a situation where I have to protect my life or others I'm shooting to kill, get something that will do that job. IMHO thats a good 9mm and up, I carry a 45. Thats a 45 going in and bigger than that coming out... others would have a smaller hol going in and maybe a 45 going out. My thinking is more trama caused the better. I know its not something we all like to think about, killing somone, but if you're going to carry a gun, you better be at terms with the idea.

Shoot to kill the bad guy who is trying to kill you.

On top of all that, learn to shoot the gun you are carrying and learn to shoot it well... even if that means shooting at 'stupid' ranges like 20 yards. you never know what the situation will dictate. Also, however you decide to carry learn to draw from that postion and be able to do it proficently. Sometimes I even carry two guns just incase the situation doesn't allow me to draw one of them. Paranoid? no, prepaired. obviously situations like these arrise.

Thanks for listening to my little rant... I guess I'm a little wound up from the curent events and that that prooves more that you want to kill the sick individual that is terrorising innocent people.

Have any of you been able to conceal carry a full size 1911 without a shoulder rig and still keep your pants up? My shoulder rig is effective if I am wearing a jacket or a modified sport coat, but that thing is pretty danged heavy in a pants holster when I have no azz to hold the pants up.

I also weigh a little (280 at 6'2") but all of it is in the upper body, and thighs, so I would have to wear a size 4x or 5x shirt to billow it any, and that would hang pretty badly, I would imagine, for a belt carry w concealed suspenders (which I would probably need to waist carry a large auto).

I have a small .22 LR revolver for a CCW if I HAD to use that, but I prefer larger calibers. I keep CCI Minis in the .22 LR for carry, but it is an FIE so I am always concerned about killing the little gun by practicing much with the so-called "more powerful" .22 LR rounds in the CCI variety.

The main reason I had gone away from concealed carry in public is that the .45 was so huge that unless I dressed with a jacket I could not effectively conceal it. In the summer time, that meant I could not carry concealed unless I was sweating so profusely that my mere appearance tells people that I am either ill (target) or concealing something valuable (target), or that I am nervous for some reason(target). All of those make one stand out, especially if everyone else is in light shirts and shorts! Of course, I did not have the latest waistband holsters to choose from either, but it would be noticeable, I would think, with the full length barrel (plus comp extension) currently installed.

Anyone had any luck in waist concealing such a beast when they don't have the azz to hold up the pants?

I carried an H&K P7M8 for 12 years. For a while a carried in the small of my back, then I changed over to a DeSantis Gunnysack.

Then I switched over to carrying a G27 in the Gunnysack. I know you don't like the .40, but I carried Federal 155 grain Hydrashoks and Winchester Ranger 180 Grain, which I am carrying now.

Then the wife started complaining about the Gunnysack, so I talked her into a Ruger LCP, which I either ankle carry or carry in a pocket holster.

Depending on were I am going and what I am doing, I also sometimes carry a Glock 20.

I shot my buddy's LC9 a few times. Yes, the trigger is atrocious, but it is manageable with practice.

Good luck with your decision!

BubbaChicken, you're a candidate for a Hawaiian or Guayabera shirt...or a Tractor Supply Company end-of-season sbort sleeve
work shirt. I buy their Schmidt brand in XXL -got my second denim there for $9.99.

Can't swear to it at the moment but fairly sure have XXXL sizes at my store - we have some good sized ranchers and other workers in our area.

Tighten that 1911 gun belt down like a saddle cinch,.,you'll be good to go and it'll feel great when you shed it at the end of the day.

BubbaChicken, I know they are expensive and usually a wait time for production, but look into either a Milt Sparks or Alessi belt holster for your .45...The key to comfort and support is the belt you use with the holster...

If the belt is flimsy, you will never carry the weight of a large frame pistol easily, I don't care how good the holster is, or what size body you have.. When I ordered my Milt Sparks, I also ordered a belt to match and wear it every day in comfort...

When I was an active LEO, I was doing a training demonstration for some Reserve Officers, dealing with Summer time potential threats and walked in to the classroom in a pair of cut off jeans and a slightly baggy T-shirt...I'm 6'-0" and weigh 205 on good days...Heavier on bad ones...

We were discussing concealed weapon threats and I proceeded to unload nine handguns that I had concealed on my body and no one in the class had noticed me carrying them during the first half hour...

I will admit that three were small .25s, one in my crack and two in the groin area...but the other six were around my waist...Ranging from .380s to 1911 .45 acps...

Just curious if you have ever considered a NAA mini revolver?

IMG_2383.jpg

Mine has a cylinder for 22lr and one for 22mag. Here is another pic of it in the palm of my hand, and just so you know, I don't have very big hands.

IMG_2377.jpg

Now, before you get all excited about this only having 22mag power ... I will say that it is much better than carrying nothing, which is your current status. Yes, there are a lot better choices out there for a CCW and if you can find one that you can manage to carry comfortably on a regular basis then go for it. Just wanted to mention it because it could come down to being your best option for finding something suitable to carry. It could very easily give you a fightin' chance to get out of harms way!

Good Luck!

While I know it's not a 45 acp but besides my sp101 I drop a over/under darrenger .38spl in my pocket. Not the most effencent gun but as a back up it'll work.
