Deep conceal gun?

I've no doubt the gun is effective, buy carrying it that way IMHO is asking for trouble, if an attacker knocks you down or you tussle, it seems that pistol can be dislodged easily which may either arm the attacker, or disarm you.

Personally I think all ccws should be carried in a manner in which they are secure yet accessible. Too many good carry options out there to carry like that if that is in fact how some might carry it

Personally I think caliber is irrelevant. I say carry what you shoot well and practice with it. A small caliber hit trumps a large caliber miss any day. Second importance being proper ammo
An proper practice, common sense, and situational awareness trumps it all

All of this is JMHO, YMMV

Good luck, be prepared, and pray you never have call to use it

It fits tight and takes a straight pull to remove it. Running or rolling around on the ground won't move it. Of course everyone's different. YMMV
IWB holsters are just now coming out for that model. I haven't found one I like yet.

When faced with the bad guy wearing body armor, I believe only a head shot would do. This guy in Aurora also had on a gas mask. Would a shot in the face from a 22LR (standard 40gr lead bullet) have penetrated the gas mask? How about a 25ACP, or a 380ACP? If not, the shot may have just drawn his attention to you.

What cartridge/bullet combo do you think would have stopped this shooter quickly?

I'm leaning towards a small 357mag, using hardcast bullets, but then am faced with complete pentration on non-armored soft targets in other situations.

I think the reports are wrong and that he didn't have body armor.

It's starting to come out through people doing independant research that he was wearing a nylon "Urban Assault Vest".

Urban Assault Vest

Leave it to the media and an anti gun police chief to sensationalize this tragic event.

Agreed 100%. My little ElsiePea is always on me, it carries comfortably in the back pocket, is dead dependable and shoots surprisingly well for it's size. On occasion I carry the Kimber also (the quickest reload is another weapon, correct?) The Kimber's loaded with golden-sabers, the Ruger,Hydrashocks (And the SOG is very sharp)

I have Springfield Armory not far from my house. Stopped by last week and held one. Very small, slightly larger than a LC9. They now come with a 5 and 7 round mags. I was also eyeing the 40 cal EMP the Lady I speak with there said the XDS is much nicer to shoot.

Wow did I miss a lot today!

When I took my first ccw course several years ago, the instructor said this about calibers.

If someone comes at you with a knife, club or bare hands, a 380 will do nicely. When it comes to a gunfight, go big or just give them what they want. The odds of getting into a gunfight if you don't want to be are really really low.

My wife has squashed the whole thing anyways. If I can get it back on the table I will go 380 or 9.

Wow!!! 100 dollar body armor. Man that's cheap. What? It's not body armor? The media wouldn't lie to make ratings would they?

Yeah I'm just a poop stirrer.

It's not completely squashed. She has concerns about our small children that get into everything and has a good point. I don't have all the answers yet on how to secure their safety and have a small gun around. I need to make a better case.

She is Canadian and has the stereotypical fear of handguns.

I'll get her there. The AR I bought for yote hunting was the same thing. But she refuses to be in the same room with it. She hunts deer with a 20 gauge 1187 in black. She doesn't know she is being a hypocrite!

If you dont need the super small size of a micro or ultra compact 9mm, the sub compact Glocks are hard to beat.
I replaced my LCP with a Kahr CM9.

I went the same route as Warpig

The KahrCM 9 shot circles around the small glock in as far as accuracy and ability to conceal. The CM 9 in a tiny gun that is very accurate, and much more then the Ruger of the same size. The CM9 is a very accurate and controlable pistol under recoil for second and third shots. A 40 in the same size is a hand full.

My CM9 has yet to jam with any kind of ammo, never jammed new from the box. This pistol is going to be darn hard to beat. The fat glock is now a car gun.

so whats accurate for a hand gun?
my cw9 seams pretty good, but it my 1st hand gun so i really didnt know what good.

Yoteless, My wife was dead set against handguns in our house 6 years ago, she said it was her or a handgun thats my only choice. (She had no problems with all the long guns that I had). I started of by getting a revolver cause thats what the guys in the westerns used, and she said that would be OK, but she said no black guns cause thats what the boys in the hood use. Last summer I showed her a S&W M&P40 like my buddy who is a cop uses and she said that since it is a cop gun that I could get one also. Now she said that I can get a new Sheild40 to go with my other M&P, Life is pretty good in my house lately. Good Luck getting your wife to come around on the handguns----Riflemann

We had just got a nice, handmade, gun cabinet from Her Dad. I added a nice "puck" light to it and it looked pretty nice. She then looked at me and said..." We need to get more guns to fill that cabinet!".

Yep, married her, too!
