God or Evolution

things are still evolving. it's just so slow we don't notice it.

A brief compendium for anyone interested.
The evolutionary process consists of three elements: variation, recurrence, and selection.

Differences in environmental effects produce differences in recurrence, and those differences must feed back to affect the composition of the pool of variants.

Evolution is a very time consuming process. For something to significantly change, the genetic makeup of that life form must change. This brings into play the law of effect and natural selection. For the population of a life form to realize a noticeable deviance, there must be a recombination of genes from the pool of the variant life form. This takes hundreds of thousand of years for nature to accomplish. Modern science now has the capability of accomplishing this in just a few years.

If "things are still evolving" where is the "life form" between modern man and the monkey or ape we supposedly came from? Isn't the deep issue of evolution the need to deny the existence of a creator God? Because if man has to acknowledge the existence of God isn't he then accountable to God for his actions? If man acknowledges His existance then we are required to live by His standards. Those are the Ten Commandments. That is why they must be removed by those who do not want to be accountable to God. All of us have broken at least one of them and thats what condemns us to an eternity separated from God. Fortunately, thats where Jesus Christ comes in, He paid the penalty for my breaking those Laws.

Really, when you think about it, if I am wrong its no big deal, BUT, if I am right then its a very big deal to those who will not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and what He accomplished on the cross. All of eternity is at stake. I ask these things because I do not want to see anyone condemned to an eternity in Hell. I think that there would be no greater joy than to have all PMer's there in heaven.

BTW, God is not the author of all the suffering in this world, the author is Satan, the great deceiver and liar, the one who wants to destroy Gods creation, especially you and I because we are created in Gods image.

There was not just "one", but many. Some mutated and some did not. Survival of the fittest. The smarter varients adapted better and survived. The others didn't.

Yes, in the end. But God gave us free will and the choice to use it wisely. Or not. He also created Hell, for those who choose wrong.

we are created in Gods image.

I think we are a work in progress. We may still be in the developmental stages. If He lets us stay around another 10,000 years, I think we may get a lot closer to that image than we are now.

Why do people think you must have one and not the other and that the two theorys can not coexist. In fact evolution is indisputable there is proof of that. God as people commonly think of is a matter of faith and cultural upbringing and varies thru out the world. Proof of evolution is everywhere in every region. I do not understand why religion does not accept and embrace evolution. Instead of denying it they should be trying to understand how it ties into their belief. To ignore it is ignorance.

Greg, do you really believe that people who believe in evolution are simply trying to dodge adherence to god's morality? Do you think that people can only behave well out of fear of being "accountable" to god? (That's a pretty sad view of human nature, as well as one of the least sophisticated of the levels of moral reasoning.) Do you really believe that theists are more moral than atheists? I have known a great many people who do not believe in god, and they are without question at least as "good" a group in moral terms as the religious people I have known.

RFolk,
Question 1) Deep down bottom line, for the most part, yes.
Question 2) No, we "behave" because of our love for God, not out of fear.
Question 3) No, Romans 3:10 says, "No one is good" ; Romans 3:23 says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God".

This is what God says, not me, its His Word, not mine. I am just as guilty of sin as anyone else. I came to the understanding of His Word that I am saved from eternal separation from God through His Son (Romans 3:23-26) many years ago. I can and do share with others what He has done for me, and His immeasurable love for each one of us. He does have a set of standards for us to live by and its our choosing who we will serve. Its a free will choice He has given us all.

I did not start this thread and I think the title of it left it open ended enough to have a meaninful discussion. Thus far it has been that way. I have taken the liberty to share my heart in what I believe. God loves us all, John 3:16. Have a great day /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif!

Greg, we are all entitled to our opinions. You and I quite obviously live in different worlds.

I wish you the best.

Happy Hunting.

A quote from the word of God Psalm 14:1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Nuff said.

Evolution doesn't claim that we came from monkeys. We share a common ancestor, but have taken different evolutionary pathways. All living organisms today share a common ancestor, and our genetic similarities are determined by how recently we diverged. For example, we share 99% of our genes with a mouse (the genes are expressed differently, however), but much less than that with a sponge.

Now, I wouldn't consider this my "opinion", but if you want to look at it that way, I'm not going to stop you.

just sometings to think about.

how plants produce air.
how the earths water cycles works.
how the sun is just in the just the right spot.
how the rest of the univers is set just right.
no cahos, exsept the cahos that man brings apon himself.
the earth was made to sustain life unlike no other planet.
look at your own children did they just happen.
seems to me that all things have a creator and a porpose.
it is just up to you to find it.

Evolving...What are the odds?

That every living creature has turned out the way it has?

Why is Man the ruler on Earth from all these creatures?
How come the [Ape-Family] are still apes? Where do they all fit into the grand scheme of life?

Is "order" the key? If so...then where did "order" come from? Randomness?

What if there were never [ANY] fossils found. Then what would [MAN] think or believe?

Fossils, have convinced [MAN], of evolution. But there is much more. Who can say different. When no one, doesn't "truely" know?

Personally, I don't need proof. That we know little of what is really [TRUE] of [ALL] things.

If we all shared the same life experience's. Would we not all believe the same?

It's all interesting to me, just like predator hunters. We share similiar experiences. But not all the same. Which forms out opinions, as to what our "truths" are. Take "coyote den's" for example /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I saw a program on the History Channel the other night regarding the Hubble telescope. After the crew went up and fixed it, they immediately got images of our universe. After showing the vastness of it and the different systems, the scientist made the comment to the effect that man is very arrogant to think that he is alone is the universe.

I agree with his accessment. To think we came about by a chemical reations between amino acids-and to be the only species to evolve in this system does not make any sense to me. I believe there is a higher power involved here.

Just this old mans opinion-no slams on anyone else thoughts.
You guys have been very civil about this topic. It's very cool to be able to share our thoughts.

Ya know, I was responding to this thread the other night and the wife asked me why all of us were fired up on here. She checks in every now and again (hopefully to buy me some more custom calls /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif) and has noticed the "agitation" of late. I told her it was because the calling was slowing down and we all had spring fever! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Alright, I've got to add my 2 cents in here.

First and foremost I do believe in the Creator and his name is Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

You guys have done a great job of discussing this but some have blamed God for evil and others have stated that evolution is a proven fact. That's simply not true.

They can only theorize about evolution because according to there own theories it take thousands and thousands of years at least for something to evolve. Someone said why do our nostrils point down and a croc or alligators (not sure which) point up. That's a no-brainer the Creator made them that way because they are water creatures.

I have a friend who is a Christian by his own confession but he still believes that the earth has been here for millions of years he says the earth strats prove this. We frequently arg... debate about this subject.

He believes in the great ice age, and that it's what killed off the dinos and stuff. I also believe that the earth was covered with water just not frozen.

I live in WV and our coal mines are full of fossils of everything from ferns to little crayfish and fish too. If those fossils were made by the great Ice Age which they say moved slowly over the earth. How come the ferns and all the little animals were intact. I've split many of these pieces of slate myself I was the first person to see the fossils. So I know of what I'm speaking. Some come from a mile deep.

It stands to reason that if the Ice Age slowly covered the earth the fern would've shriveled up and died. Instead of being pressed flat between layers of other earth and leaves and compost in general.

My explanation of how this happened comes straight from the bible. Before the great flood in Noah's time it had never rained and not only did the sky's open up and pour rain as it has never till this day. The bible says that the fountains of the deep opened up and the rivers beneath the earth gushed forth on the face of the earth.

In short I'd like to see the proof of evolution some of you have spoke about. In Dan. 12:4 the Bible says that knowledge will be given to man in the last days. And what is knowledge but technology. Just look at how much men have learned in the last 100 years or even the last 20 years.

Some of the stuff they taught me in school has now been proven wrong! God said in the bible that he uses the simple things to confound the wise!

Thanks for keeping it civil. And for letting me say my piece. God Bless all of you!

I have few problems with the whole "GOD" thingy.

First off, those of you with children or grand childern that believe there is a god. If one day you came home to find out all your children or grand childern were dead, and you could bring them all back by giving up your belife in GOD would you??

Next, why did the bible end, if there is a god, I would think the bible would be a living document, always changing always growing.

If GOD is so all loving and caring as everyone says he is, then all of us that dont believe in him should not have anything to worry about, he still loves us too.

Why if there is a wonderful and special place called HEAVEN does it have GATES that you have to go through to get in??

Why is it that in order to get into HEAVEN there are so many rules you have to fallow and obey, sounds like a pretty discrimanating country club to me.

Why if GOD is such a LOVING and CARING GOD, did he even creat a place like HELL???

And why would he, being so LOVING and CARING want to send one of HIS OWN CHILDREN there???

And last but not least...........
If GOD is so all mighty and great and can do ANYTHING....Can GOD make a rock so BIG....that not even GOD could lift it up??? Think about it....

Thank You
Chris (There is no GOD) Crawford

Sorry but there is evolution that is happening and it can be observed. Hell the common flu, cold viruses are examples of how it happens. If it did not then we could just killem all out. Insects have been known to show evolutionary process under certain environmental stress. Hell the through out human history we can see how certain climates have led to the developement of certain human characteristics. Again the bible is no different than anyother historical document. All books are through the biased eyes of the author. In this case the bible was written by those who wanted to create restrictions on people and how they should lead their lives.

"Why if GOD is such a LOVING and CARING GOD, did he even creat a place like HELL???"

God said he created the lake of fire for the devil and his angels not for man!

And my grandson was brutally murdered just in Sept. I find it hard to blame God for what an evil man did.

Just as King David said of his son that died. He's gone now I must do right so that I can go to him!

Chuck
