God or Evolution

Chris Crawford.........You speak like a man who has never read the bible. Every question you asked is answered if you would just seek. Matter of fact, in his word, God begs us to seek his face. He will not force us. Bad things happen to good people. God did not create life to be a puppet master. He does not want to control our every move. Death and suffering were part of the plan. But so was eternal life. The suffering during this life is but a blink of the eye.

What I find beyond belief here is Christian people who honestly believe the bible says the world is 6000 years old. The bible says no such thing. The bible implies no such thing. You have put your own little spin of time on the bible. Yet God is not bound by time. Time is not of God. Time is a unit of measure, created by man. Quit putting limits on God. He has no limits and his power and glory have no end.

I never have figured out why Christianity and Science have always been at odds. If you look real hard you will find that they compliment each other in many, many ways. Man was not Gods first attempt at life. He created life many times before man. The dinosaurs are proof of that. So are Mammoths and Saber tooth tigers and the early versions of man. Where in the bible does it say that there was not eons of time in between the stages of creation. Even as a christian, you would be a fool to believe that God created the heavens and the earth in 6 litteral days as man understands them (he rested on the 7th). We understand a day as being 24 hours. God is not limited by time. This earth has been here for Millions of years. Not 6000 years. There is scientific proof of that. Not just Carbon 14 dating either. How about layers upon layers of the earths crust and fossil beds in all the layers. How about the proof that Huntinfool pointed out miles deep in a WV coal mine. Come on Greg. I admire your faith but get real man.

Last, I would never take away from anyone the right to believe whatever they choose to believe. What I find sad is many of the non believers apparently believe that once this life is over, and they lay you to rest, that is the end. Forever and ever.

I for one believe in the living God.

You're right there's no time limit on God and we can't understand his ways. In the sense as what you said. God could create a world in an instant that appears to be millions of years old to us.

My point with the coal mine story was to simply point out that the Ice Age didn't create the fossils.

I believe the fossils were created when the flood turn the earth upside down there's no way Ice creeped down over the earth from the poles and captured all that stuff in the slate and made the perfect fossils.

And one thing God fearing people should never do is question what God says time is a human limitation for sure it's not worth argueing over.

That's what my friend (that I mentioned earlier) argues with me all the time he's a Geologist. You tell me how fossils get formed perfectly in the middle of a coal seam a mile deep under these mountains. I've found perfectly shaped leaves, ferns, fish, shrimp, and sea shells. How do you explain that?

For that matter I know how the so called experts say the coal got there. There will be a seam of coal anywhere from 24" to 6 feet running through the middle of a mountain. We were taught in school that the Glaziers came down from the North and dragged all this crap with them and covered it with millions of tons of earth. No way, man. I don't buy it just as I don't buy their theories of evolution or their big bang theory.

That's the problem with scientist they always think they know everything and then later as we learn more they are proven wrong. I'm not being a smart ellic. Please tell me how fossils are formed as I've explained them to you.

no . i wouldn't jeperdize what God has promissed for anything or anyone. besides my 2 small children would be with God at that very moment.

Next, why did the bible end, if there is a god, I would think the bible would be a living document, always changing always growing

i can read a verse or a whole book in the bible today and understand it as it applies to my life at this time . 6 months from now i can read the same thing and get somthing new or different . the bible is living .it is always changing always growing .john 1:1

If GOD is so all loving and caring as everyone says he is, then all of us that dont believe in him should not have anything to worry about, he still loves us too

he gave us free will to make our own choices . would you attempt to make your own children love you ?would you force them to ? God does love each and every one of us and we have a choice wether to love him back or not.he will always love us and i'm sure it kills him to hear you, one of his children to say ,he does not exist.

Why if there is a wonderful and special place called HEAVEN does it have GATES that you have to go through to get in??

Why is it that in order to get into HEAVEN there are so many rules you have to fallow and obey, sounds like a pretty discrimanating country club to me.

you can not follow and obey every rule.that is not how you get into heaven."for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son , that whosoever beleiveth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" john 3:16 . he sent his son Jesus to die for our sins .he paid the price .all we have to do beleive , love , and follow him.

Why if GOD is such a LOVING and CARING GOD, did he even creat a place like HELL???

for the devil and his angels.

And why would he, being so LOVING and CARING want to send one of HIS OWN CHILDREN there???

he does not want to send any of us there .he wants us to love him and and draw near to him. according to his word ,THE BIBLE ,we have a choice as to where we will spend eternity. God's grace is there for all of us , always. we just hve to choose.


And last but not least...........
If GOD is so all mighty and great and can do ANYTHING....Can GOD make a rock so BIG....that not even GOD could lift it up??? Think about it....

if i'm wrong {and i'm not}, we both will live our lives out. mine will be filled with the love ,kindness , compassion ,and respect for others that GOD and the bible has taught me. you will fill your life with whatever it is that athiest do. and in the end there will be nothing .if your wrong ,if there is a consiquince for our actions ,our lives, our beliefs . we will live those same lives and in the end!!!!! well , you know the deal....you think about that .

every one of those questions are answered in the bible . it sounds to me like you beleive what everyone else has told you about the bible. open it up and see for your self.this is not a personal attack on you or anyone that thinks like you . just like my heavenly father ,i want you to see and know the truth.

The strata of rock, fossils, coal (Coal has already formed at the bottom of Spirit Lake from the Mt. St. Helens eruption) were layed by the flood of Noah's time. Recorded history will stop going back at about 6000 years. Man and dinosaurs existed at the same time, if you think not, then explain the human foot prints and dinosaur tracks together in Texas? No, I am not a "fool" as you call me because I believe in the 6 literal days of creation. Read Genesis 1, look at it closely, thats exactly what the inspired Word of God says. I believe His word is true. Lock, stock and barrel. Prehistoric? there is no such thing! History is period of recorded events (His story), how can you have "pre"? If one pauses to think about it, it doesn't exist. This is what Gods word says about a "fool":
Psalm 14:1, The fool has said in his heart, there is no God...
Proverbs 28:26, He who trusts in his own heart is a fool...

This is what God states, not me, and there is a multitude of Scripture that deals with that word. I will not go on and I don't think I qualify to called that. This thread has been very respectful until now. The original poster brought about a legitimate topic for meaningful discussion. Since it appears to be degenerating to name calling and disrespect, I will no longer participate in the thread. Someday, all of us are going to bow before an Almighty God and some will do so in adoration, others in sheer terror. My hope is for all to be the former. And, being very "real", no hard feelings, I have broad shoulders.
 
Outdoos, it is only a TRICK question if you believe there is a god, because the fact is, the question in of itself proves that all you believe in god, is not true....he is niether almighty and all doing......It is a viable question which those of you, who believe in god, were to answer honestly, would prove in fact that there is NO GOD.

The older I get, the more questions I have about God and religion in general. Here is a question for you. If there is no God, then where did everything I see and smell actually begin? A big bang? More people have lost thier lives fighting for some religion or another, they believe in, than all of the great wars put together, then tell me just how good can RELIGION really be. Just the fact that there are so many different religions and beliefs should tell you that there is NO ONE GOD, that every group of people through out time have just made up thier OWN GODS to believe in.
 
chris , i looked on some other sites just to see if any one else has ever delt with this all powerful question of yours. seems to be the atheist big ticket .here are some quotes from those sites , not my answers , just something for you to think about.

Unless He wanted to make a rock that's so big (heavy) that He couldn't lift it even if He WANTED to, in which case He could do that, but only until the time that He no longer wants to not be able to lift it even if He wants to.

2.No. God cannot do the logically impossible, any more than He can act out of character with Himself. God cannot, for instance, create a square circle, stop being good, or cease being God. God can do everything that is possible to do, which includes those acts for which there may be no simple, immediate, apparent, human explanation, i.e. miracles. For further study, see Jeremiah 32:17, Matthew 19:26, Hebrews 6:18, and 2 Timothy 2:13.

3.God has three forms, The Holy Trinity, His spiritual form could create a rock so big that His human form would not be able to lift it

i like the last one because it is not theory .it is the truth. but if the answer is no ,like you think it is , here are some more things he can't do.

God cannot lie. (Hebrews 6:18)

God cannot be tempted (James 1:3)

God cannot cease to exist (Psalm 102:25-27)

Brothers there is also a verse in the bible about not casting your pearls before..... You know what. LOL! Those who haven't read the bible for themselves probably don't have a clue.

There are many different religions, some of which teach good and others which teach evil. Now could you tell us where you think this world and everything in it actually began?
 
And there in lays the problem Rich, no one can tell us that, we all have what we think is the RIGHT answer, but is it really the right answer? To think that we all came from just two people, Adam and Eve. Then explain why we are not all white cacassion people? Could it be that evolution had something to do with some of us being black and some of us being brown, or some of us being eskimos....so why not believe in the evolution of man and animals???

Many folks do in fact believe that they have the correct answer, but I am not one of them. I do believe there is a God who created the world. A man would be a fool to believe that man just evolved from nothing. In order to have evolution, there had to be something there to evolve from. Beyond any human understanding is it not?
 
Rich, at the end of the day, when all the work is done, kids are tucked away safe in thier beds for another night of peaceful sleep, and we sit and think about what OUR lives really are all about....our beliefs are all our own.
 
More people have been killed in the name of religion than any other reason and that is enough reason for me to avoid it. I belive in good and bad, right and wrong. To all of those who have killed or persecuted another in the name of religion I hope they spend eternity in what they believe to be hell.
