Quote:It didn't get away and likely ended up on the skinning pole. It's all good. Nice hit Tony!

You are right Troy. He's the one on the right in all three photos.

PS. I picked up a couple new replacement sticks this morning, while parking the hunting rig for a stand. They are skinny cedar fence posts, but very sturdy. I already gave them the whack test.

Thanks all...Tony

As far as this is concerned, I made my comments and will stand by them. As Tony stated we have talked on the phone, and disagree on some things.
I'm gonna do what I do and everyone else can do the same.
Best of luck to everyone, have fun and be safe. Duane

I would go with you anyday my friend , i have seen your pictures.LOL

George seems more like a lib than a hunter...sniffle. Lets find a way to kill em with zero pain experienced. Ideas? HIT EM WITH A STICK!!!!? CORRECT! How the heck do you think people killed stuff 300 years ago? With a bow......& THEN THEY BLEED OUT! Go to the hardware store buy a ladder & GET OVER IT!

i think if any of you guys ahev EVER dealt with tony, or even just talked to him for two minutes you will realize he is a class act guy and has serious passion for hunting much like the reat of us. I personally don't thiknk this thread was a "hey look what i can do" deal. People get on this site to learn...and there are a ton of new hunters. That is why i joined this site, and i can personally say that talking to tony has made me a better hunter. Anyway...this thread showed some people something new...that calling in and shooting a coyote isn't always a smooth ride...One other thing i would like to add is that NONE of you were there...there are SO SO many variables that could have came into play as to why a second shot were not made. Someone could have been in way, couldn't get gun on him without hitting dog, or flat out didn't feel comfortable. No matter what it wasn't you there, so you really shouldn'ty bash someone for their decision...especially someone with as much experience as tony.

My two cents!

I skipped several of the replies. You n Gunner got the job done.End of story.I like that dog. I want to try night hunting soon.

Tony: Is that Ryan hunting with you and your client? I'll bet he is learning some good hunting tips being out with you - The Best!!

Umm....what about this?

http://www.predatormastersforums.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=466848#Post466848

Like it's always said, "we are not the only ones reading here".

We can cuss and discuss the ethics all we want about hunting, shooting, trapping, dog hunting, dispatching, etc. But it doesn't change the fact that harvesting coyotes or any animal is very real and does not always go the way we prefer. So we do the best we can, in different but effective ways.

I can see where this video wouldn't sit well with non-hunters (if it were maliciously used against us by "antis").

We as hunters do not need to "hide", but are still responsible for our public image.

Just my thoughts.

dogNM - go back and read my post- thats why I said what I said...this thread and the High Fence thread are two of a kind..

We catch the same [beeep] for hunting hogs with dogs - good example: The ol boy just down the road from us has 300 acres- ( High Fence ) he is trying to get the county to make us stop hunting hogs with dogs- and at the same time this moron will hammer a 160 + captured deer inside his ZOO while the deer is standing under his feeder - then throw the buck into the back of his truck and parade around town with what a GREAT kill and fantastic hunt he had..WHAT A JOKE !!but he wants the rest of us who actually "hunt" to stop hunting ???- these are the type of idiots that are giving us the TRUE hunters a bad name-

Edit : and thats another thing - a shot is a shot - TV is trying to make hunting so "friendly" trying to appease the left and all the Anti's...what a crock - we actually have TV shows with disclaimers before the shows start....well what the [beeep] does the person think he or she is gonna see when you turn to a hunting show ...its a KILL - plain and simple ...the only thing we "harvest" is corn !!!

rodngun, I understand what you are saying. I am not into appeasing the antis either.

I just kind of think of it like a dead pile, where a predator hunter/trapper puts his critters after he has skinned them. Care should be taken to put them out of the way where john q public will not happen upon them and call the local paper and cause a ruckus. It's just respectful and responsible. Not all non-hunters are anti-hunters and I prefer they stay that way. The antis are antis no helping that, they just hate our existence.

Hunting shows take care in the editing room to bring us hunters entertainment, sell the newest and greatest all while keeping the show tasteful, and some even educational to the non-hunting viewers. We all know what can go wrong in the field, why put it on the net where it could possibly do more harm than good? Sorry, when I kill a critter for fur or meat I tend to think of it as a harvest. How does that matter?

I got to say after comming home from the military it sure seems the animals are higher rated than humans anymore. I wonder how "humane" the animals going to be like a wolf when he gets ahold of a hunter and will he return the favor and be just as "humane". Kill all the coyotes you can get your hands on Tony because your diffently one of the good guys.

Open your eyes boys....Antis are not going to like us, if we post a photo of an injured coyote or just a picture of a fur coat. Either way, they already have all the fuel they need to plead on human's soles to donate their money to their causes. I promote ethical taking of animals and believe this video is a good example of stopping an injured animal and saving it from a potential long death. Any Anti that doesn't see it that way needs to go find something better to do, like save some poor animals from getting euthanize at the dog pound.

Tony

I'm not reading through six pages of a no win argument,to each his own when it comes to hunting styles...

I am curious why you allow your decoy dog to second as a catch dog and risk injury to him.

As far as anti's seeing it,you might aswell been clubbing a baby seal.....
