Jimmie,
Yep, I'm very familiar with their travel areas & where they typically bed. I've called into, head-winds, cross, upwind & downwind many times. From the few I've called in. I've had one of those coyotes, come from each direction. Generally, I'll stalk out as quietly as possible & set-up around a 1/4 mile or so into a mile sq. section. I don't focus so much on looking for sign. Because I know where they consistantly lay, from my spotting expereince.
G.C,
I have reviewed all the "sticky's". I'm familiar with those opinion's. Very good info, by the way. One of the threads, I enjoyed the most. Was how far they can scent you & your "scent-cone".
I'm of the opinion, that they[canine's] can smell/scent in [ppm] @ the minimum, perhaps...ppb. Also when conditions are just right. IMO, they can scent you for hundreds of yrds. The human body is constantly, shedding old skin cells & hair. Not to mention sweat-gland vapors.
A few yrs back my wife developed CA. Our German Shepherd, one evening went right to the spot on her body, where this cancer was lurking. He put his nose right over it. Et paused, steady w/o moving for around a minute. Shortly thereafter, she discovered she had cancer, through testing.
He did it again a couple of yrs later, on her other side. Cancer, again. In England, there is a study program, using domestic dogs. That can do this very thing, as well as pre-detect an on-coming seizure in humans. Needless, to say. I've never underestimated the abilities of a canine, domestic or wild.
Byron,
Good luck on your films & sales. Seen one of'em & enjoyed it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll keep after them, until I can't walk anymore. Then perhaps, go to "rolling" or "dragging" my carcass, into the field on a little skid/sled, using ice-recue picks...eh /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
Good discussion guys, enjoyed it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
