Howling Coyotes method

Hello KT, there are links to sound waves in the first few post's of this thread. And shame on you, you didn't practice after I turned them loose in your truck did you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Jimmie

kytimberman,
I am not a big believer in the old coyote language theory, and there is too much false information being thrown around out there. There are a couple or three coyote vocalizations that I THINK I know when I hear them, but only the coyotes know for certain. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif A lone howl is just one coyote howling, rather than two or more coyotes howling. A lonesome howl is a coyote howl that just plain sounds lonely. A lonesome sounding howl does not sound agressive to other coyotes, and resident coyotes will often approach the sound of a strange coyote in the area. I use the lonesome howl on almost every stand.

A bark/threat howl and a warning howl is same thing the way I see it. This sound is used by coyotes to warn strangers to get the heck out of here or get your butt kicked. I use this sound a lot in summer calling as well as calling during mating season. Most of the time I just use lonesome sounding howls unless I get a vocal answer. If a coyote answers my opening howls, I try to imitate what he just said. If you would like me to send you a few sample howls, just E mail me at cronkcalls@aol.com and I will E mail you a couple. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks, Rich, will do that. I have had howling work for me before, and been apparently ignored plenty of times, too. Jimmy, I'm glad you told me what that awful racket in my truck was- I thought it had something terrible wrong with it!

....we're getting skunked, this year, Rich......

My son and I can't seem to call in any coyotes, at all. He did score on one, a couple of weeks ago, using a challenge to respond to the male's challenge, but that is the only one, so far. Last year, by this date, we had killed 8 or 9.

In the January '04 issue of Outdoor Life, there is an article about winter coyote calling, with one paragraph entitled "try talking dirty". If you have read this article, could you comment on it?? And, if so, give a demonstration of this type of sound they are describing???

Also, if possible, could you demonstrate the "female invitation"???

Thank you for all the info you have posted on this topic. My son has one of your howlers, and a killer call, and I have been hinting that Dad could use one of each for Father's Day. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
