I NEED ADVICE ON WHAT SCOPE TO GET FOR MY 308

I know who he is. Sorry if I'm not as enamored by him as you are.

Care to answer my questions? For an optical engineer, he didn't write a damm thing that I, or a ton of others, couldn't write who aren't optical engineers. No test data whatsoever. If he did, please tell me what.

If you want, we can dissect this thing line for line, but that will only make you, and him, look worse.....

Wow 2muchgun, if you are not already on Leupold's payroll you should be. You would be one heck of a spokesperson for them.

I think that you have shown who the expert is here. I am out. Wow I have meet many people online, but you my friend are a serious piece of work!

Just for the record how many suppliers are sending you scopes to review on a regular basis? Oh that many! I guess Ilya has them all fooled

Apparently you cannot answer my question.

He has at least 1 of us fooled.

Sorry if I don't take everything I read on the internet as fact. It's a terrible habit of mine, and I'm sure one day will be my downfall.....

Sorry but I have read plenty of fact filled reviews by Ilya. If you knew him at all you would have known this. If he was not so respected why is he so well known by optics folks at the SHOT Shows and suppliers that provide him scopes, some of extreme costs, to test and post his findings on internet firearms optics forums? I guess they are ignorant......

I have heard enough to know all that I need to know. You have created a nice following here. If these folks want to buy into your findings as the final word, well caveat emptor.

I read another one of his "objective reviews" today. He stated that the Super Sniper was "both optically and technically superior" to comaparable Leupold Mark 4 and IOR tactical scopes. Ring any bells with you? Maybe throw up a red flag?

Why do folks provide him with scopes? Let's see, if you read the "test" , he states "there isn't a bad scope in the bunch.." Hmmmmmm. I think I'd give him one too.

Once again, you've dodged my questions and chosen to waste my time worshiping Ilya.........

Of that is a fine reason! If that were the case, why doesn't Leupold offer you their scopes to you, so that can espouse their greatness, to all of your fans?

Never said that I worship Ilya, but at least he is a known commodity in the sporting optics world, where as for what I read, you are somewhat a legend in your own mind. How close am I on that point

I just put a sidewinder 30 on my venture predator. I have only shot 10 shots at this point but will be shooting more this weekend and will let you know how it goes.

Keep talking. Blah, blah, blah,....

Never answered the question did you? Pretty sure I know why.

Like I said, I'll keep basing my facts on real world experience, you keep basing yours on what you read on the internet....

2much

I personally like reading your posts, you seem to know your [beeep] and your not afraid to let someone know where they can hang their hat if they don't like your opinion. I have been diagnosed with the same disorder, or so my wife tells me

Mark2

OK here is a review that Ilya has recently done on the Hawke Sidewinder. I guess it was just too much trouble for you to find and post it, so I thought that I would assist you.

Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical Scope review by Ilya Koshkin

There does that satisfy you. It does for me. I guess this is another reason that he so respected not only on the internet, but by optics companies. He writes reviews with good understanding from a shooter perspective, as he is a shooter too.

Pick this one apart as I am sure that you will try. What have you published lately that compares to the depth and detail of even this Internet" review?

Considering that I'm very skeptical about reviews from professional writers, I thought the review linked above was very informative, if I were considering purchasing the scope in question....At least I would feel that I had some sort of positive/negative information going into the process...

The technical comparison with the other scopes, some of which I'm personally familiar, was a nice touch...He certainly covered many factors that some writers generally gloss over, or omit...While warranties, stated or implied, are important. The potential for never having to use one is more so...So time will really be the telling factor as to the overall quality...

I'll be really interested in any future problems, or lack of, that may evolve..

Blah, blah, blah.......

I am typing this slowly, beacause I know you don't read that fast:

Answer the question and please quit wasting my time with yet even more evidence of your undying love for Ilya.

BTW---Love the part about how the debris showed up in the reticle, yet he was able to "pound it on the table and make it go away. Not knowing if it would show up again." Sounds like some seriously scientific schit goin' on right there. Good thing he is an optical engineer, or he may not know the exact angle in which to strike the scope in order to achieve said results.

Then he goes on to state that he would still recommend the scope, only "conditionally".

Talk about covering your azz. LMAO.

You just don't get it, and never will.

This concludes this edition of "Scope fantasies, by Ilya, as told by Curly"..........
lol.gif

I figured as much
smile.gif
You are truly a piece of work. At least I know who I am, while you are the greatest expert the world has yet to find out about, in your own mind. I get it.

LOL !!

Don't most professional writers get PAID to make a product look good ?

You never see an ad on TV bout a Chevy truck and the guy says it's a POS.

Real world experience is the only way to roll.

Here is a good "personal experience" review from over on the Snipers Hide forum about the Leupolds. Funny one of the guys had a similar experience with the small particles
smile.gif

" This review is my personal experience. Others may have good luck with their Leupolds.
I have the same exact scope. After 20 rounds with a new scope I had small black particles attach on the interior of the front lens. I sent it back to Leupold, and they "cleaned" it, and mailed it back. Remounted it, fired it 5 times, and the same thing happened. I called Leupold up again, mailed it back, and got it back. This time I sold it. Too much of a hassle for a $1400 scope. Im getting a NightForce. From what I have read on here, I would say 85% of the members have NF scopes, and love them W/ NO issues! Good luck!"
And damned if it wasn't one of Leupold's finest!!

So much for Leupold quality as the end all
lol.gif

I guess Ilya will have to start giving the "conditional" approval on Leupold's now

Leupold 8.5-25
