So what is it that your, my or anyone else's experience tells us that will help anyone that asked about scopes that they might be interested in purchasing? I guess in your case it means "Buy Leupold"? How in the world is that helpful to anyone? Where do the new folks that are wanting to buy a decent scope go to get "unbiased opinions". Everyone that shoots has opinions and thankfully can state them. Your experience does not make you anymore of an expert than anyone else, as your experience is based upon specific standards that may not be the same for others. Do I like Ilya's reviews. Yes I sure do. I find them to be unbiased and thorough. He gives me information that I would otherwise never have, as I lack the funds to buy every scope that hits the market that I find interesting.
You get bent out of shape when I post a link to someone's negative experience with the same issues that you abhor, in a "lesser scope", because it is about your favorite dog in the hunt and an $1800.00 dog at that!. Maybe you are a bit more biased than you care to admit? Every manufacturer has problems from time to time. Some are better about listening to their customers wants and needs than others.
All I have to say is that there are a great many, very good scope manufacturers out there and one brand does not fit all wants or needs, of every shooter. If you like the "Band of Gold" on your scopes, so be it. They are good scopes, but far from the "be all end all", especially given their cost these days, in my opinion.
We all have opinions, we all have experience, we all have a brain. Word of mouth is always the first thing that most people listen too, vs professional reviewers. It should be obvious that no one person or company is perfect. Everyone that owns something that has treated them well, wants to tell the world. It is human nature.
