Bear with me, this is not another "pick my gun post" (i have (2) 22-250s and dont need another), i had a conversation with a very stuck in his ways gentleman, and just wanting to see who was right in our conversation.

So if you would be so kind, please tell me:

If you were going to buy a new 22-250, which would you buy. I dont mean, what do you have and if you like it, (although you can add that if you want) I mean if you were gonna head out to the gun store that carrys every past and present offering, which would you choose???????????????

Its not a fight starter i hope, just collecting a little statistical data

Ok I've been thinking on this.

First of all there are alot of things I really dislike on the new model guns ,ie; finish, triggers, stocks. In fact I don't even care to look at new rifles anymore with the exception of nicely figured wood stock ones.

Since it would be a chuck/p-dog gun I'll say this...

If I was to get a rifle today.....
Old model Rem 700 BDL VS
New model would be a Cooper in a Varmint type with good wood on it.

If it were never going to see a prairie dog town, then I would say the Cooper would get my nod too. If it would see a lot of shooting, then I'd also say the M10 Predator would be great so I could rebarrel that sucker every few years. I've shot rifles of both makes in 243 calibers and the Cooper was a joy to shoot and they make some purdy guns. The Savage was comfortable and I liked the detachable magazine option. Both were shooters from the word go and like a wide variety of ammo.
