I've shot rifles of both makes in 243 calibers and the Cooper was a joy to shoot and they make some purdy guns. The Savage was comfortable and I liked the detachable magazine option. Both were shooters from the word go and like a wide variety of ammo.

I hear Cooper has a very reasonable rebarreling price. I'm thinking more and more about getting a couple.

I was so dam impressed with my howa in .243 that I'm wouldn't hesitate getting one in 22.250 or any other caliber for that matter

Had a Kimber with a 26 inch Varmint profile barrel. Shot it out and got rid of it. Had a Remington VSF, shot it out and used it for a 6mmBR build. Have a Savage Model 10 Predator to go with the 6BR for p-dogs. Bought a Sako A7 22-250 for calling late last summer and it has been so problematic that it is going away. So...if I were to buy a new 22-250 it would be for calling and it would be a Savage Weather Warrior.

Been some good suggestions for a 22-250 rifle, none of which I certainly wouldn't object to owning. Having said that, due to my retirement income limiting my shooting budget, I'd probably buy one of the Marlin Heavy Barrel rifles available in 22-250. Why? Have a couple of the Marlin XL/XS rifles already....good rifle for a very reasonable price.

It's really quite simple.
The 250 was originally desigened as a Varminter, and that ment shooting light, explosive bullets really fast.
Still does in my mind, but the trend today is to turn em into 243's (or something else that they aren't).

But now we have 204's for those light bullets. I see the modern 22-250
as a hot rod .223. Up to 90 grains giving 1000 yard capabilities.

Won't a 243 do the same thing with higher BC projectiles?
I like the 250 and Swift for what they are and really don't get the point of all the "modern hot rod" .224cals.
Not saying you shouldn't do it, just that I don't see the point.
Guess I'm just old and don't accept change very well. Probably a tad neurotic too cause I do like the idea of the 6X45 (in a bolt gun of course).

Fortunatly it's a free country and we can all do as we see fit (for now).

I shoot a remington, model 7 preadator in 22-250. It's a solid little gun. I can wear a nickle out with 52 grn remington, accutip v's. I can do the same thing with the cheap 45grn jhp's. Not a bad gun at all. Easy to handle and fairly light. I'd say if I had to buy another one off the shelf, I'd look really hard at the savage (predator) version. I don't usually sling a ton of money into one myself, but so far the coyotes haven't been able to tell! Hope this helps.
