input on dead coyote chokes, what say you ??

You're absolutely right, I'll ammend.

In my shotguns which are a Benelli SBE II, Stoger 2000 and Remington 870 I compared Carlson's, Patternmaster, Comp N Choke, Primos Jellyhead and Xtra full Remington & Benelli chokes. I got tighter more consistent patterns with hevishot & #4 buck using the Dead Coyote tubes in MY guns. Your results may vary.
 
I just patterned my 12 Gauge Browning BPS with a 26" barrel, Carlson DC choke and 3 1/2 DC TT. At 50 yards I had 15-25 hits on the 8 1/2 X 11 paper that the target was on.

I got a great pattern in my M-2000 with the dead coyote tube and the dead coyote shot,now with #4 buck I get a better pattern with my mad max extra full choke tube at 40 yds I can put 26 pellets in a 9" circle,but again that is just how my gun patterns.
 
I have a Kicks Howler and a D\C choke both do good out to 50yds. The Dog Pounder from MADD is cloose to 3 times more than a Carlson. All their chokes for shotguns show a .710 constriction.

I have both the Dead Coyote tube and a Trulock .670. Both pattern near the same in my gun, but I give the edge to the Trulock. It seems to put a few more pellets in the target.

You guys must have a much better gun / choke combination than me.

My 870 Super Mag wears a Carlson's Dead Coyote. It patterns 3" #4 buck great. Switch to the 3.5" shells and the groups get worse. I was told that the 3.5" blow the load apart from the larger powder charge. I figured that might explain it or my gun might not like the 3.5" #4 buck. On a side note took the 870 to a trap session with the Carlson's installed and it shot pretty decent.
 
I would not shoot farther than 40-45 yds at a coyote, I think the risk of leaving a wounded coyote to die somewhere is too great, I've dropped foxes at 50 yds but they are much smaller. I have a Rem 870 SuperMag and Win 1300 with Carlson's and I like it very much as well.
 
i know this thread is old as [beeep], but if someone could shed some light. (ive been looking for hours on what to do)

First off, im probably gonna be going with some #4 Buckshot or HeviShot DC #4 or T shot.

I have a Carlsons Turkey choke tube for my 870, at .670, and it says on the choke to use lead OR Hevi Shot.

I want to avoid buying a new choke. will these loads work with the choke i Have?

and it seems the general concensus round here is #4, but how about T?
 
I plan on trying out the dead coyote "T" shot this year aswell. I've also heard the 3" loads pattern better than the 3-1/2" loads as others have said above. It will be coming out of a 22" remington versa-max with an aimpoint & a .665" carlsons. Will report back with the results once I pattern test it.
 
My Mossy 935 with the Carlsons Dead Coyote choke likes the 3" Hevi-shot T's. I've not had a chance to try anything else out of it, but on my 70 yard "hand drawn" coyote on a big piece of cardboard it put 9 pellets in the head and neck area. Scientific No, correct way to test the load NO, redneck...very much. Here in Arkansas its no larger than T's for coyotes. And God help you if you have anything that says Buck in your bag or worse your gun and its not Deer rifle season and a Warden happens to find what your doing interesting. I would think that since they say in the Book that come July 1st when Coyote season opens for public land that you can use any Rifle of any Caliber that it would be ok to use Buck shot in your shotgun....But NOOOOOO! Plus Most of where I hunt its thick...and a Scatter Gun rules the land. So for now the biggest shot in my bag is T's. I could probably use buck on private land but I promise I would forget to take it out of the bag on my next stand on public land and that would be a bad day. Anyways...Mossy 935, Hevi-shot T's, Carlsons DC choke...good stuff.
 
Like some others have stated, to get the BEST pattern for your shotgun, send it off with shells T shot, #4 buck, BB, etc whatever you plan on shooting. The company you send your gun to will be able to match a constriction to your gun/shell combination. The downside of buying a choke and trying it is, you might end up like me and buying 3 or 4 chokes before you find the right one. Jebs chokes makes an excellent choke, give them a call and tell them what you are looking for in your pattern and they can hook you up! Im sure they are several other manufacturers that you could send you gun to and get it dialed in. Indian creek, kicks, rhino to name a few. As far as the dc choke, I got ok patterns but ended up selling the choke after shooting others.
