Long range bullet advice

I'm looking to find a LR bullet/load for my Ruger Prec.,243 Win. I'm looking for extreme accuracy over speed if thats possible. I have lots of 6mm bullets and powders. My first range trip I used Varget and 90 gr Bergers. I have 105 match Bergers, not VLD's. I want to shoot this rifle in 600 yd F-class factory. Thanks in advance.

107 Smk's are great plus they're already pointed.

108 Berger BT Target...not as "sexy" as some other bullets but shoot very well.

105 Berger hunting VLD's (orange box) work very well.

105 Berger Hybrids work well if you can get them to shoot. Seem to be hit or miss for me.

I have shot all of these at some point or another for Fclass out of a 6Br,6Dasher,6SLR (kinda sorta like a 243).

Powders I'd try H4350,H4831sc,IMR7828 and H1000.

I'm working in the shop today. Guess I'll take a stroll through the bullet isle. H-4350 is the powder I usually use in the 243. I just used Varget for my first time loads in the RPR. One load did very well but its way to soon to call it good. Thanks!!

With the Berger 105 H4350 or H4831SC will give you good load density and good burn in a 26" barrel.

Heavy bullets for the 243 were kinda slim at the store, but I didn't have a lot of time to really dig around to see what I could find. I know there weren't any 95 grain SMK's, I looked for those first. I don't know who does the orders for bullets but when I find him we may have to have a talk. LOL The search goes on!!

With an 8 twist you should be able to shoot the 105s. I shoot the Amax because I dual-purpose them for hunting, accuracy is great. For F-class I wouldn't hesitate to try the heavy weight Bergers, either.

The thing is, different guns like different bullets. You just need to work up loads and pick the winners.

If you can get Bergers to shoot in your rifle I think they are worth the money for long range. Berger has some good tech bulletins on their site.

You could try the 95 VLD's and the 105 VLD's from Berger. The 105 hybrids need a 7 twist. The form factor is excellent on both of these, better than most other brands. Most of the big boys shoot Berger, probably upwards of 90% of them.

Quite funny as they are designed to be more user friendly in slower twists and not as COAL sensitive. Good thing we got this all cleared up!

BTW, the RPR in 243 is a 7.7 TW

Why would you want to shoot the 105 Hybrid's when the 105 hunting vld's have a higher B.C. ???? 105 hunting vld's with IMR 7828ssc is what I use and have taken it out to 1400 yrds with great accuracy. You'll get better velocity with IMR 7828ssc than you will with other powders also!!! If you're going to try the Hybrid's you might as well step up to the 115's that also say requires a 7 twist!!!

You could get by with a 1-8 twist if you were shooting at altitude with this bullet.
