Most Accurate Rifle Out-of-the-Box

I have a lever action by Daisy that is pretty tight at 5yds. All of that with no optics & ammo out of a little 1/2 pint milk carton deal.

As above, wouldn't ammo play a part in this equation? Obviously, a tailored reload will garner ANY rifle's inherent accuracy. But is it even possible that there is ONE particular load that all rifles SHOULD shoot the best? Without standardized ammo to use as a control, the test's results can be based only on opinion...

"Out of the box" accuracy comaparisons between brands is subjective speculation at best and reminds me of regurgitated marketing hype. But if that makes one feel better about their gun choice, then whoop it up & enjoy...



Apparently I'm not the only one who saw this thread for what it was.
I don't own any guns I have not tinkered with so by definition I couldn't possibly know 'the answer'. None of them can carry the moniker of 'out of the box'. I took each one mounted a scope, adjusted the trigger, bedded the stock, made adjustments to stock fit, taylored loads for them before I shot them.

I have a tikka t3 in 223 that must be a lemon. The best i can get it to shoot is 1,1/4" 3 shot groups. I have tried a lot of different loads in this rifle, with little resault! Lee
 
Ok it obvious that some people do not see your question for what it is and over analyzing it. He said it himself
"inherent accuracy" check out the definition of inherent on the old Websters dictionary. if you were to shoot 4 different factory loads out a tikka, and then a savage and the a remington and then figured the median average, one would be INHERENTLY MORE ACCURATE than the others. How much? Who knows. I do think you have a pretty good pole of some very educated shooters and people on this forum that have given you enough information to make a very good choice and not go wrong with any or either.

I can't tell you who makes the "Most accurate rifle out of the box" but I can tell you which of my rifles is the most accurate with minimal tinkering if that helps.

#1. Remington 700 PSS .308 wearing a USO ST-10. (Bug holes at 100 and darn near clover leafs at 200)Not all day long.

#2. Savage 10FP .223 20" Barrel wearing a Bushnell Elite 3200(Clovers at 100 and 1-1/4" at 200)Not all day long.

I have to say that the Tikka, and the Savage were the best " New shooting guns" I bought them prior to reloading, and the Savage in .204 would win the initial match up. The Howa I recently got was After reloading it was a used rifle. and only recently did I find a good round to shoot. So Iguess if you are talking about a Brand new gun, Factory Ammo, right out of the Box, the nod would go to my Savage. Like Hildago said, Mine took some rounds through it to get it to settle in.

What is obvious is that you don't have much experience with scientific method or statistics. It would be extremely difficult to fairly measure "inherent accuracy" simply because a key ingredient in the equation (the ammo) can not be standardized (or optimized) to all of the rifles to be tested. Therefore, any answer to the question would be speculation based on individual conclusion and/or opinion.

If you think your ____________ is the most accurate out of the box rifle, then congratulations, YOU WIN!
 
This question has been posted countless times and each time it's just as irrelevant. People who're at all interested in accuracy don't shoot them as-is out of the box anyway. Someone who'd ask that question won't be, will you? So who cares? People can talk endlessly about how this or that gun shot so well as-is new and so what? It means nothing. The right load makes all the difference and not everyone shoots the best load in their gun anyway. Lightening the trigger, floating the barrel, and maybe bedding is it......no big deal.
 
The question is not out of line.. How can one manufacturer guarantee 5 shot MOA groups? Sako A7. Tikka has a 3 shot guarantee.

The Weatherby Sub-MOA is simply a vanguard that happened to shoot better than the standard vanguard. It has a target to show the groups it's capable of.

Just goes to show that there ARE manufacturers that will more consistently produce a gun that is better than the others.

Get a Remington and complain about 1.5" groups and you'll get it back stating that it's within specs.
 
Remington Model 700 CDL 300 Ultra Mag. .397 groups at 100 yeards with 150 gr Nolser Accubond. I may have the exception but based on that rifle for me its Remington. 2nd would be RRA Predator Pursuit. Least accurate Ruger.
 
The most accurate out of the box rifle is a Kelbly's period, no contest, no question. Even the best customs don't beat them very often.
