New England Hunt '06?

Hey, what about upstate NY, which borders with VT. There is a large amount of public hunting lands available, bet the farmers would love us!! Count me in.

I have read the whole thread, and didn't get that impression at all. The problem with Maine is it wouldn't be any closer than going south for the other hunt, which sounds like a better hunt, so if I had to choose between the two, I would go to the better one. If you want people to attend a hunt, you should locate it where everyone can reach it, not in your own back yard. Just my two cents.

I'm in eastern PA, I would not really consider a 9&1/2 hour ride my backyard /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
I was gonna go to the LBL hunt untill I heard about this one, for me to go to the LBL hunt it is a 14 hour ride.

If I remember your first post correctly you wanted to have it in your backyard. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
Just my two cents.

Actually, it wouldn't be in my backyard either. Jay's Peak, VT is a 10 hour drive for me. Up along the NY/VT border is about 8 1/2 hours. For me to drive clear to Maine it would be 14-16 hours. All i'm saying is that held in Maine, who is going to attend? Some people from Maine, maybe VT,MA, Conn, and a few people from eastern NY, and PA. Lot of maybes to base starting a new hunt on and expecting it to be successful. You might as well hold it in Alaska.

Hi everybody. To bring you all up to speed. There has been 27 comfirmed hunters so far. The registration so far I am not sure how that is going to work but will be working that out soon. I am building a new office and trophy room so my paper work is falling a little behind but I am slowly getting caught up. Coondogger, we set this hunt up so members up in this area will get a chance to attend a hunt without going broke on travel. The banquet is all set up and the menu choices are on an earlier post. If any one has furhter questions please pm me.

sign me up if there's still room.
daveInMe - spruce head, me - 8

I didn't think I would be able to make it, but freed up the time.

Also, just to give you a heads up, and give you time to come up with the jokes, I spoke with the local Sgt from the Maine Warden service, and I can use my 9mm PCP air gun for coyote hunting, and will bring that along for grins-n-chuckles along with my regular rifle. my air gun will throw a 90gr 9mm lead bullet out at 1,000 FPS. I've gotten quite a few racoons with it. We'll see what it does on Coyotes.

Ok Guys here it is. 41 days, So far I have had 31 people say they are going. What I need now is everyone that is planning on going to pm me so that I can supply directions. Also if you have talked to me about staying in the camps remind me. If you have to get a motel room I can supply you with the numbers of the four local motels all within five miles of the camps. I am going up on Sunday of this week to finalize everything. While I am up there I am going to try my luck. I just bought a new 223 set up that has killed a lot of paper in the last week now I want to try it on something with fur. Fresh snow coming today, cold temps and a lot of woods should make for a good combination. Also if you have pledged to donate merchandise to the hunt for the auction please let me know what and if you will be sending it or bringing it with you. When you pm let me know also how many will be in your hunting party. Good hunting. Rodney

I believe you can order both resident and non resident online at https://www.informe.org/moses/

If you plan on buying your non-res. licence once you get there MAKE SURE you take your current/previous licence or hunters ed card along with you. You NEED proof or you won't get a licence. I'm stressing this because I'd hate to see someone drive a long way to get there and then not be able to hunt.
Now watch I'll forget mine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Does anyone know what shot size is legal for fox and coyotes??

Maine 2006 hunting licenses and coyote night hunt permits are now available online at

https://www.informe.org/moses/

when I bought mine, it asked if I wanted resident or non resident, and if I was a citizen of the US or Canada, so I'm assuming that you can buy a non resident license online.

Thanx Dave.I checked out the link last nite,it said 06 licences not available until mid dec.I guess this is now mid-Dec?Looks like I will have to pay a little more as an "Alien" as well?
Looks as though I may be in a bit of a jam as well for getting gun there? There is a message to "aliens" on the website, apparently I need to jump through ATF hoops which may take 6-8 weeks? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gifDammit,I called Canada customs awhile back and they never mentioned that! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gifGotta call ATF tommorow and see if I can get the fast-trac? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
