predator quest scope sucks like no other

The only issue I have is this...

MOST of us are smart, experienced, etc enough to get good feedback or info before forking over gobs of cash. But what about some of the younger, maybe inexperienced kids that watch the hunting shows as a real learning tool, or tutorial if you will. These guys see Hunter X using brand Y scope or whatever. Now they MUST have that scope, gun, call, camo, yada, yada...

That is a great injustice to them. That’s how I see it!

Kam582 the wtc works, it's that simple. Yes it has a name that now stands for cheap junk, but it works well. I ordered another one yesturday, and no matter what any of our scope snobs say it is the best glass you can buy for $110, ... period. It's only fault i can find is that it's to powerfull for up close hunting that a lot of us do, but is great for target work or long range hunting.

As for the predator quest, i can't answer ...yet. One of my wtc's did go south and as much as i want it fixed rather than replaced, it may be replaced by a predator quest, (my choice just to see how bad it is) so after three calls to very polite simmons reps who have offered to replace it with any of the bushnell family, (of equal value) i have decided to send it in.

I guess we will see what happens, if it's junk i will send it back and get something else. Two points were made very clear by the simmons reps, the first is that the wtc is the property of midway and not simmons, however they will repair them because their name is still on them. the other point is that they know the simmons name is trash and they are working on bringing it back up to a good product and that it's going to take a long time to do it.

Now on to hunting programs and sponsers, we have been down this road before. I'm an old s.o.b. and i have watched tv since the early 50's, and never have i thought that tv was made for me.

It's real simple, tv was created to sell products nothing more nothing less. We as Americans have been programed to buy what we see on tv or radio or any other media since the moment we were born. The bottom line is simple as well, you have a computer ... use it to check on the product you want before you buy it. All companies that want to stay in business will take back a bad product and either refund your money or replace the product.

Ok, enough ranting for me. Heres my last thought, want to see what does and doesn't work for hunting? turn off the tv, turn off the computer and go outside and hunt. blue

And there it is. I basically made this statement in another thread and it very effectively killed the thread. Seemed nobody wanted to hear it.

Buzz killer.

why dont everyone write simmons and tell them what we think of their products.im betting if there were 50 or 60 folks let them know they may take notice

Probably not. I'm sure they sell more than 60 scopes a day. It isn't effecting them enough.

I am still waiting on my wtc repair so i can't comment yet on the pq.

However it would seem to be really stupid to try to rebuild the name of a company with your top end scope being a p.o.s. Having said that, it of course wouldn't be the first time this happened.

And in the for what it's worth department, i now see that sportsmans guide has the pq listed. So maybe it's already on it's way out. blue

After being told by two different simmons reps that they couldn't replace the wtc with another wtc, i get the post card from bushnell saying that my replacement had been ordered.

It didn't state what the replacement was so i called bushnell and by chance got a lady i have dealt with in the past who has always been helpful. (Tonya)

I explained what was going on and gave her the lab repair number, she couldn't reach the tech who had worked on my wtc but told me she would call me back when she knew what had been ordered.

When i get back from my morning hunt theres a message from Tonya stating that in fact they were sending another wtc. So for the moment it looks like i won't be able to comment on the pq, however i have learned not to rule anything out until it shows up on the door step. And if it is a wtc, you bet i'm a happy hunter, that scope works very well for my eyes no matter what name is on it. blue

Had one simmons scope on a .22 that I carried around on my ATV while working. After 3 months of use the bell fell off the end of the scope in my ATV scabard and the guts just trickled out. But I bought a cheap scope and you always get what you pay for. Up until that happened it worked well on prairie dogs and ground squirrel. That rifle now has an old Leupold on it that has lasted for the last 7 years.

not real sure why people fall into the gimmicks or "x" line of "x hunting " products. all the company is doing is finding a way to take your money. les is using simmons for the money just as much as simmons is using him for his name. and theres people who buy it because its the cool thing. look around at how many kids are wearing american eagle and abercrombie clothes. the logos on the shirts half faded and the jeans with rips tears and holes in em RIGHT OFF THE SHELF sporting a $100+ PRICE TAG. its cool and the guidos from jersey shore and all the other MTV reality show clowns wear it so it must be good and cool and worth the price. I MUST HAVE A FORTUNE IN THESE COOL JEANS. but mine all started as brand new and the holes and rips and tears came from years of use and working in them. and they all started out as a pair of 20 dollar wal-mart jeans.......just saying money and the media influence the people from the low end of the jean pool simmons and all the other companies selling product "X" are just banking off the population from the shallow end of the gene pool!!!!

I have just started and bought items hunters praise for predator hunting and have went with seasoned hunters who had better equipment then all the bragged up items. Buy for the field is the correct path to take as mentioned above.

I have had one on my T/C Venture and love it. I shoot 3 in groups from 300 yards with it. I can see clear as day, even at night.....I think it was well worth the money.

scopes are like glasses. not everybody can see clealry out of any old pair of glasses. i personly am very hesitant to buy any scope until I look through it for myself. i have a WTC and a 44mag both philipene and they work just fine. always wanted to look through a PQ but have never seen one on person

I used to like Simmons until they started coming from china, cant blame china [beeep]. they only install the parts they are told to. DeWalt tools are made in china, good stuff.

I had two PQ scopes go bad---wouldn't handle the recoil of a .243??? Bushnell let me trade them in on a couple of Elite 6500's. I'm happy now!!! I wouldn't put a Simmons scope on a BB gun.

Dang Roger, after a year and 5 months, is nice to see you found a thread you felt a need to reply to.

Any of those tornadoes come close to you yesterday?

I like to read and learn, so I don't say much. However, after what happened to those two Simmons scopes I owned, I felt the responsibility to let others know. I re-learned a very dear lesson---buy the best and only cry once.
