"For all spot and stalker's " Just some thing I was thinking about?

Ya no excuse for missing. Should have waited for it to stand up. Just didn't think about how small the target is when they are laying looking at you at 185 yards. Still should have killed it.

Well they were out in full force this morning. Saw 4 coyote and a herd of fox, 5 that is.

Dad called and said he thought he saw a couple coyotes along the highway on his way to work so after i dropped my girl off at school and then worked over where he saw them. N oticed a ball about 1/4 mile off the road, was a fox. Then noticed two playing right next to the road thinking they were the coyotes I drove towards them only for them to be fox also. While watching them saw two more out a ways also.

Ended up watching them for a half hour. Two sets of two would jump on each other with the lone one getting chased away. They were making some sounds that sounded kind of like a fox distress on the foxpro, so i just set it on the roof and turned it on. 4 of them just sat there with one brave soul come running right to the pickup. Didn't have the heart to shoot them as they looked poorly furred, but did manage to get two coyotes after that.

HL, seen 6 coyotes early this am right south of felton. got 1 big male but made a bad shot and blew out the stomack. curled him up in the sleeping position about 350 yards out on a snowdrift
thumbup1.gif
. got a real nice female about 2 miles west. on the way home from work, seen 2 reds out about 1/4 mile. snuck up to about 200 and got them both
smile.gif
shot the female first and the male only ran about 20 feet and stopped to look back at her........ bad mistake

last time i used my wifes camera i dropped it out of a tree so i don't get to use it anymore, but i might steal it when i head to nd on sunday night

smile.gif

I was going to stay in the truck and watch and video and he was going to sneak and a long way sneak..

smile.gif

just got back from a 2 day trip to ND. seen about 30 coyotes, killed 4. wednesday was a great day to be out on snowshoes, today, not so good

left at daylight this morning for a 1/2 day of stalking but it did'nt turn out that way. was driving down a no mainenance road and a coyote was just standing out there begging to be shot. i obliged
grin.gif
. that don't happen very often. than i drove by a cornfield that had fresh scat around so i figgered i'd try calling but i left my calls at home. i searched the truck and found an old crapper that sounds more like a dying duck than a rabbit but figgered i;d try it. 2 minutes in here come 2 in. nailed em both but both had horrible fur.curled em up in a sleeping position on a snowdrift specifically for HunterLee to put a stalk on
lol.gif
next i seen a coyote out at the mile mark going into a brushy creek bed. i let it be for awhile and than parked and made a 3/4 mile walk with NO SNOWSHOES
confused.gif
. only broke through a few times. got to a great vantage point and blew on the crappy call and here he (she) comes on a string. nailed her. woulda been a decent fur but it looked like she already had a zing mark across her back the was pretty ugly. called 1 more spot and had 2 coming but a train came by at the wrong time and they turned and walked off. did not see one fox
angry.gif
. not a bad day for minnesota.

We found a coyote laying out behind a building site yesterday, watched it for bit but thinking it may be a dead one, turned out to be alive, but my old mans rifle was shooting real low- like feet low and he blew the shot after a very easy stalk, but we did get both of them and another yesterday.

That's a [beeep] good day! What portion of the state do you hunt (southwest, southeast, northwest, northeast)?

were you out an about yesterday, i saw a ford pickup that was stopping and watching a lot kinda nw of wags town?? I was in the white s-10.

yep, i was out till about noon. i was in a black s-10. did'nt make it that far north. only seen 4 coyotes but killed em all
grin.gif
. when i got home about noon, my uncle called (lake park) and said the coyotes were going crazy by his house early am. so i buzzed down there. seen 2 but a train came and spooked them

Figured that was uncommon for ya but enjoy reading all your posts and tactics. I hunt the north/northeast side of the metro. Hope to hear more from you this year...good shooting to you.

Well im way behind on spot and stalk updates!! Opps!
Two or three days ago me and a buddy went we seen 3 fox in like 100 miles not a bad day..
smile.gif

One fox played us like we had nothing on him that fox got away with flying colors LMAO!!
Long story short he had done this before in the past he new what was up from the get go!! More power to that big red guy! He lived!
Had seen two more fox marked on the gps we went there and boom they were still there and they were fresh hehehe
smile.gif

Well we maid a plan and the plan went well in till crunch time
frown.gif

We had one spotter and one shooter it worked out great My buddy was the spotter and I was going in for the kill
smile.gif

Wind was great snow was great but the female went back in the hole while I was in the stalk the male stayed outside playing around in the fresh snow
smile.gif

Well I was about to my the top of the hill to get in my shooting spot the male is just dinging around by the hole still so I move some more he has no clue im there!
I get to the top and BOOM HE GOES IN THE HOLE WITH THE WIFE!!! BEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPP!!!! BEEEEP! BEEEEP!
I was not a happy boy at all GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
Well after a few words I sat there for about ten mins to see if he or she would come out well they did NOT!!
frown.gif

So we backed out and let them be and well come back and get them another day
smile.gif

Well I went back yesterday and seen if the male and female were there and they were not by there hole.. Bummer!
Im guessing it had to do with the wind picking up and the snow blowing all over heck that they were in there hole warm and cozy..
I check out two more spots on the way home and nothing!
, knowing what I know now about spot and stalking in my area I new my chances of see anything were slim to none do to weather so I headed back home and im glad I did cuz the wind picked up even more!
The weather man said nothing about high wind and blowing snow out there boy was he wrong!!! LOL
Well I was going to go out today but I seen winds from 10 to 15mph and clouds and 10 to 15 out so I stayed home bad weather for my area to stalk
frown.gif

That is all I got for an update for you all hope the weather warms up a little and the winds stay down some time this week..
But for the time being its back to ice fishing I guess
