I read somewhere, maybe elsewhere on this forum, of a way to control the illegal immigration from Mexico. You first shoot the illegals with tranquilizer darts. Then you move them to the northern US border. When they wake up, they sneak into Canada. Problem solved! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Good for you. and I personally think we all need to get envolved. Just a thought, perhaps the BP guys that passed the group heading south were going to roundup a group of 57 heading north. I also read where Bonner, the new head of BCBP, has directed the BP to do their jobs and enforce the laws on illegal entry without some of the touchy feely featherheadedness thought up by the INS.

I think the East Germans had the idea for border control. 20 foot high walls with a wide and deep trench and land mines, and plenty of razor wire. Oh, and sniper towers as well.

I don't think we can convince the Mexican government to shoot its citizens in the back like the east Germans were fond of doing.

Besides, even if it is real, just let it take care of itself. After all, there are only so many people that the United States can hold, and only so many people that Mexico can disgorge.

R-T-B - Another insightful, "lets see who I can get to blink" post. I believe that this is an obvious attempt to stir the pot, to get the red necks to rise to the bait as it were. I am hoping the general membership sees through it and refuses to bite. Watching your posts closely the way that I do gives an understanding of exactly who and what I believe you are. An interesting though non-scientific study in humanity realy. LEts sit back and watch.

Tackdriver- I remember having a discussion in on of my collage history classes in that many religious leaders (i.e. Catholics) prohibited birth control to keep populations up during holy wars.
Another conversation brought up the correlation between intelligence and children. Stupid people have more kids and people with high I.Q.’s have little or none. I can’t tell you how many times I have thought about that when I’m standing behind 8 kids and their parents trying to figure out why they can’t use food stamps for beer.

This may go agianst the grain a bit, and Illegal activity is Illegal activity and should be stopped, but i still believe we should show a little respect to our nieghbors below us. How can you blame them for wanting to come here?
Could you imagine if the Native Americans Built a wall around America when Europeans invaded America? None of us would be here right now Coyote hunting. I don't recall Christapher Columbus having a Visa to enter America. What if the USA had an economic disaster and you couldn't provide for your starving children and Canada was over flowing with Fat people living like kings, i bet some of you would be heading north real quick.

Nigel, you make a good point, however, look what the indians lost by not being able to keep our ancestors out.
I'm all for helping a neighbor, I'm just not sure we should give up our country and way of life by letting that neighbor take it over.
I think there are a lot of things that could be done to help on both sides, but the attempted solutions for the current problems are not working.

All you guys bitching about those illegals coming here and ruining the party need to remember one thing. They wouldn't be coming here if there weren't jobs waiting for them. Who's providing the jobs? Americans, that's who!
The way to stop the flood of illegal immigration is to fine every employer $10,000 for each illegal he gets caught hiring, and confiscate his assets to defray the costs of running the 3 ring circus called the INS. Those illegal folks wouldn't be coming here if their source of income dried up.
Of course, lettuce would cost $5.00 a head and grapes would be sold for $.05 each instead of by the pound.

My grandparents evaded the vermont bp years ago, no I think they just drove across. If someone dragged your carcass, lets say way down in the heart of mexico and you got empty pockets which way you gonna head??? This by no means says its right for who US as the fortunate ones that had grandparents dream before us.... it only shows that there are others with the same dreams. We're just the fortunate ones for not having to do the dreaming. How come non of you guys and your family's are trying to cross down over the border, it doesn't cost much to live down there and I here tell they got virgin calling grounds. Even got those real big spotted cats...

I simply didn't like the disrespect that was shown to the Mexican People. Disrepect the BPs, they sound like they deserve it.
Most Mexicans would rather stay in Mexico if they could provide for their families.
The problem is Mexico doesn't pay the employees enough because they can't afford to, that creates no spending, no spending equals a poor economy. I just hope that the USA never sees economic troubles like Mexico has, i think we would look at things a lot differently.

Actually, a lot of them come here and sponge off our welfare system paid by your tax dollars and mine. And given the amount of money my wife and I pay in taxes, it simply pisses me off.
Furthermore, if they do find work, more than likely it is under the table, they never pay taxes, and will sit here any soak up food stamps. All the while they never put anything back and never bother to learn english.
I'd at least like to see this country get some balls and do away with any governmental/public form/letter published in any language other than American English. It's the defacto standard language. Not German, not Mexican, not Swahili.

Apparently, though, bringing thoughts and ideas from one post into another is frowned upon around here. In one post, it is okay to discount academic studies and research as hogwash and amusing thoughts of long-haired college professors. Facts, after all, can say anything that you want them to, when presented correctly, right? Where are the facts and figures about illegal immigration? How many? What does this cost the US each year monetarily?
