Doesnt happen here in Missouri that I have ever seen. To me thats cheating and I wouldnt do it that way. I know my father-in-law says they used to do it all the time in Kansas.

Gotta consider the terrain. Not gonna happen much in rocks, trees, swamps, so I imagine that it is pretty much a midwestern farm ground type of deal.

even here on the open praire i would say i have never heard of anyone using cb radio or even walky talkies. some guys do use snowmobiles though to run them down. guns or no guns. not a fan of them

its huge around here groups gather up as many as 15 trucks or more at times then circle a section while one rig drives in or even a couple rigs drive in from differnt sides shooting, honking making noise and soon yotes are runnin radios blasting out directions coyotes runnin for there lives shots goin off till coyotes are dead or get away

Happens a lot here! Most of em use greyhounds or wolf hounds that I know. They ruin it for a lot of hunters because of lack of respect for land owners. Running through fences, fields, cattle and so on..... Also just dumping the dogs on ground they don't have permission on and driving to other end of section and blocking.

Happens quite a bit here, lots of one mile sections. Some groups are good and land owners like them and want them around. Others, not so much!!! Within 20 miles of me there are three different groups that I know of.

That sounds quite dangerous.. The close's thing to that we have ever done was running greyhounds on yotes which is fun as [beeep]! but have messed alot of trucks up that way!

There used to be a group around here. I haven't heard much about them for the past couple of years. Hopefully they're done with it.

Dad tells a story about one of his good friends that used to run coyotes back in the 60's. This guy was out running some and tore up the back axle on his pickup. After getting it home and talking to the Mrs. about it he buckled down for the inevitable chewing he was gonna get. Started off about how they couldn't afford any recreational tear ups with little kids and land payments, can't have pickup broke down during calving, and finally "Otis, what is it going to cost?" Otis says "bout 200$, Shirley, but we had 500$worth of fun!" He slept on the couch for a while after that one.

It goes on quite a bit here in southern MO. I know of 2 or 3 groups of guys that get together every Saturday, when the weather is good, in the Fall, Winter, and early Spring.

They use CB's or Marine Band radios to communicate, and have tracking collars on some of the dogs. When they turn the hounds loose, they will listen and get a general direction the race is going, then drive around to different stands. Most of the time, the dogs catch the coyote, so there's not a lot of shooting.

About 3 years ago, a bunch of them got busted for this type of activity, near Doniphan, MO. I don't remember all of the charges filed on them, but there were several.

I never heard the outcome of this case.

I am originally from Iowa and there is all quarter mile sections back there and it goes on quite a bit. My dad did it in his high school days and I have heard many interesting stories about his experience's doing it. That was back in the 70's though. A few guys still do it though but not as much as there use to be I think.

I'm in eastern Iowa and this happens all the time. I know a few that do it and think its wrong plus its against the law to use cbs or radios while "hunting", not fair chase for game at all. Last week talked to a guy that came in my shop and told me they had over 40 coyotes just in one Saturday. I told him how a felt about what they do and he's probably not going to be coming back, lol...

probly 20 years ago the guys 20 miles south of us was headed out for a day of chasin coyotes one kid needed gas money from his dad cause the big jacked up in there air chevy was a gas hog his dad wouldnt give it so he called his buddy and rode with him in a little toyota while in the middle of a chase and guns a firing someones bullet went through the cab of the toyota killing the boy that had no gas money and wounding the driver had he been in his jacked up truck it probly would have wounded him. no charges were filed not even sure they figured out whos gun it came from!!! It is very dangerous ecspecially when the adrenalen is out of control!! All for a coyote!!!!

They do it in SW Missouri not as much as they use to but still quite popular. As a teen back in early 70's I went with a great uncle, he didn't own hounds but went a lot, more of a social get together.

I chased one down in a truck once. It was right after my young beagle was killed by a group of coyotes. I was getting home one night and seen it's eyes light up out in our field as I was pulling in the drive. I went to the house and grabbed my rifle, got back in and went after it. I never did get the s.o.b. I had to stop because I was comming up on another field that we don't own. I wish I wouldn't of run out of field!
