Shopping for muzzleloader

I appreciate everyone's opinions and advice. While shopping around today I found a Thompson Center Impact in camo with weather shield barrel. I did a little haggling and got it for $220 out the door. Stock and barrel are scratch free outside. Gun came scoped with a Simmons 3-9x40, which is probably what I would have put on it myself. The glass is clear and no scratches on the scope. Gun came with all paper work (unopened) and a plastic hard case. Down sides are a tiny, and I do mean tiny, bit of pitting on the powder end of the barrel from previous owner leaving it loaded too long without cleaning. Breech plug is fine, no pitting. 1" stock spacer and scope caps are missing. Won't be able to fire it for a couple of weeks but looking forward to getting it to the range to make some smoke.

Did they taste different?
I processed both of them all by myself from where they hit the ground to where they hit my fork, so my answer is- - -
No, they both were excellent with absolutely no difference in taste or tenderness.
The adrenaline issue is a weak excuse from folks who have no clue about processing deer.

The butcher shop I use now does a fine job. If it weren't for the package saying venison you'd think you were eating ground round beef. Guess they left the adrenaline out of it. I just don't have the means to cut up a deer and other than back straps and tenderloins, I just have it ground up.
I have always cut my own, until last year. I was crunched for time, and to be honest, too lazy to deal with it. I tried a new guy here in town, and I must say I was incredibly impressed. Based on that experience, I will likely never process my own unless time and location require it for some reason.
My time is worth more to me than what I paid to have this deer processed, and this is the first time in my marriage where my wife and kids actually preferred the meat as opposed to tolerated it.

I agree you can just buy the savage for a lot less. Mine shoot a 250gr bullet very well I dropped a buck two years ago at 150yds,

Just FYI, my Impact loves Blackhorn 209 and Hornady .452" 300 gr. XTP in a black ribbed Harvester sabot. Very consistent, accurate and suddenly terminal on deer. Good luck with your new rifle!
