A. ON state land and National Forests, you can only have a caliber rifle or shotgun for what is in season at the time. So, there are vast months of protection for coyotes. Private land is different.
B. You have to be 10' up a tree to night hunt hogs and coyote

Deer herds are down 50% or more of what they were 10 years ago.
Next year will have the most restrictive bag limits on deer since the 60's.
Fish and Game here put out a camera by a coyote den, the pair brought in 22 dead fawns to feed the litter in one season.
In '06, I was giving calling lessons at Sporting Goods Stores, Game wardens came to the meetings and announced that coyotes would not eat deer...no kidding. The next meeting, I brought a gallon zip lock bag full of coyote scat full of white deer hair.
Obviously, the Insurance companies have spent a lot of money getting laws passed to increase their bottom line, they get to raise the insurance rates while deer herds are cut in half.
