Here I thought I was the only one.

200 yard group with an example of what happens to me

As you can see, the 4 shot group is doing ok, the flyer, is embarrassing.

Unloaded,it will be a mildot with a 20 moa base,,so itll make it there.

The custom target will take care of the cant,,when its on,everything will match up before each shot.

Ive been working on the target trying different ones ,,,will try and go shoot tomorrow.

Let me understand this correctly...you are trying to shoot a
6 inch 5 shot group at 300 yds with a 22 long rifle????? Is that correct or did I miss something in this post.

LOL well Peter,,well if you must use the word "try"...I get 1/2 hour set up,sighters/practice...then i shoot the group,I get only one crack at it,,no double or nothings.

It does not have to be near a bullseye,,the target can be 15'x15',,doesnt matter...but the group has to be less than 6 inches and all 5 on paper.

20 of 20 at 203 yards ,all heart shots with a .22...that was just testsing how repeatable the ammo was..currently until may 27th,,increasing distance 25 yards at a time,,shooting 5, 5shot groups.

Have you made it to 300 yet? I'm interested in seeing some updated target pics.

U still keeping faith in the blazers? That's the part that amazes me...

Good luck in your quest. I would be willing to bet your wager "most guys" couldn't do that with there CF deer hunting rifle

I've witnessed a TON that wouldn't keep 2MOA @ 100 yards

One of our high level benchrest shooters popped a smoke grenade on the upwind side of the range and just to see the rolling wind currents across our range was interesting...You could barely feel the air movement at the benches, but it looked like a substantial storm at various points down range..

good point. busting chuck's in farmers fields. Depending on layout when heavy leaved woods block a field for a coupled hundred yards then it opens to get full wind value.

about the same deal. elevation is math. wind is what it is!

I love long range .22 lr. i shoot around 300 -350 yds with mine all the time. not real accurately since im sitting on the portch in a folding chair, but lots of fun still. I like shooting it in the wind, just because its funny to see the kind of wind drift i get. i have a tree between me and the target, so i find a hole in the leaves that works and aim through it, not even looking at the target. Shoot, open the bolt, then hear the bullet smack!

I have seperated blazer by weight into 2 seperate lots,,im unsure if the groups are any better or worse from each lot.

I have only been able to shoot one day since my last post @250,,i have 2 targets i will try and post up tomorrow.

The range is correct - in a second video from the guy, he zooms the camera back, and the rail that those soda cans were on, was off in the next county

ok so this is supposed to go down this weekend right? ok boys time to mount up and head to the range. we will be the ones cheering as you pull out the rifle and golfclapping when you make that group

Hasnt happened yet,,between weather, wind, heat, and work.

Took about 10 pokes at 300 yesterday(see chillicothe boys post,in "calling in the east" forum).

No target hits,,but i gave the right post on the stand a rough way to go,,,at that point i was a bit woozy feeling and did not attempt anymore.

I did learn that if the barrel and ammo is hot to the touch ..before you shoot,,forget about it....and that was some serious mirage too.

yeah when you looked at a 300 yard target at 16x and it was wiggling more than a high priced stripper in a club you know you are having a bad day

The way I deal with some of the mirage while shooting PDs, is to find some Corfoam (corrugated plastic) like they use for realty signs or garage sales and make heat deflectors that I attach to the top of the barrel with double sided foam tape...It usually falls off when the barrel gets hot, but it cuts down on the mirage factor by keeping the heat waves to the side..

It also helps to keep the sun from heating the barrel somewhat...
