Again I ask you, is it better to buy it from Chavez?

If they drill ANWR what guarantee would we have that the US would quit buying from Venezuela? Do you think that Chavez will still be in office by time we get enough ANWR oil flowing to replace Venezuelan oil?

Every barrel we pump for ourselves is a barrel we won't have to buy from Chavez (or his Communist replacement) or a guy wearing a turbin chanting "Death to America!" Duhhh. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

This thread has about run it's course. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Ya know something? I feel so bad that you, the good guys,
are picking on each other. So stop it and start picking on Pelosi and Reid.

If all of our oil was coming from these 2 sources you might have a valid point there but it’s not that simple. They might cut imports for our leading supplier, Canada. They might cut imports from our 3rd largest supplier, Mexico. They could even decide that it’s in their business interest to cut production in the lower 48 and replace it with ANWR oil. Do you think they will cut imports from GWB’s good friends the Saudis? So, what guarantee do we have that ANWR drilling would affect Venezuela?

Don’t worry Frankie this is just some intramural scrimmaging. I see what you’re seeing. With the Supreme Court agreeing to hear the case on the DC gun bans it’s going to get interesting. I think we are going to have a huge national discussion about our Second Amendment rights and all of us are on the same team. Dawg and I may go toe to toe on an issue from time to time but on this issue we’ll both be shoulder to shoulder with you and the rest of the PM crowd. I know there’s no way of keeping Pyledriver out of this either. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif JWP should we save a spot for you too?

At the very least it could serve to drive the price of crude down. Right now oil production is under the absolute control of OPEC. If we have access to more, *we* would then have the option of deciding to increase *our* production & taking it to market. They would have no more ability to stop us from doing that than we do in forcing them to pump more.

As for Bush & the saudi's, who really gives a flying [beeep]? Bush will be out of office in about 15 months & new production is a minimum of 6 years away. We may well be on a 2nd new president before we see a drop of it.

It's a pretty dumb emotional argument, doncha think?

The problem with this Patriot act is very shortly we might have hillery [SIC] sitting in the whitehouse...

...particularly if third party conservatives vote other than Republican. I've said it elsewhere, but if Hillary Clinton is elected POTUS, it will be because of third party conservatives siphoning votes away from the Republican Party.

Here is an inconvenient piece of TRUTH. In any LIKELY Republican/Democrat matchup (meaning either Giuliani, Romney, or Thompson versus either Clinton or Obama), the winner wins by not more than 5%.

Period.

That is political reality.

If a third party candiate (Ron Paul in this case) siphons votes away from the Republican nominee, the Democrat nominee WILL WIN!!!!!

You Ron Paul supporters make me nuts because you can't seem to get that salient fact through your heads. If you vote for Ron Paul in the general election, YOU WILL BE HELPING TO ELECT HILLARY CLINTON (or possibly Barack Obama)!!!!! And you will scream loudest when she gets elected, but you won't have anyone but yourselves to blame. YES, it will be YOUR fault.

THAT is political reality.

Politics is the art of compromise, and lest you start castigating politics and compromise, THE FOUNDERS WERE POLITICIANS!!! They played dirty politics and made compromises all the time. They were masters of the craft. YES, the same men whose wisdom crafted the Constitution also played dirty pool when it came to politics, they were masters of the game, and they were willing to compromise principle sometimes to get it done. I get SO tired of hearing them referred to as political saints who never put a foot wrong. THEY WERE NOT! They were very practical men, not at all in the mold of Ron Paul or most of his followers.
