My brother bought a Winchester in .270 WSM last year from WM. He never really liked the gun, although there was nothing wrong with it. This week, he went to a gun store to get some trade-in $ on a a new Tikka. The first thing they said was Wal-Mart when he took it out of the case. I didn't ask how they knew it, but they did. Maybe WM gets some guns that are made specifically for them that are easily identifiable by others. I don't know, but I do like to do business with people who are knowledgeable. I have not yet found a WM employee who I felt was knowledgeable about firearms. I'll buy ammo all day long from WM, but I won't buy guns. It's just a personal decision, and Wal Mart gets enough of our money from our day to day necessities. I'll gladly pay more if it helps keep a local gun store in business. FWIW, anybody else in E. TN, I personally recommend Frontier Firearms and Benton Shooter's Supply. These are both outstanding stores and will go out of their way to make a customer happy.
