What are your weapons of choice??

For calling 243ack 70 gr ballistic tip. For long distance 243 ack 1in 8 twist 95 gr ballistic tip. The animal deserves instant clean kills.

for calling 243 ack 70 gr ballistic tip for long range when coyote will not respond to the call 243ack 1 in 8 twist 95 gr ballistic tip.The animal deserves instant kills

Someone got a little bit board and did some digging to find this thread. I prefer my 22-250 in the 700 bdl, through 50 gr. of spitzer through it. It's plenty accurate for plinkin coyotes!

1st choice: Rem 700, 17 Rem, 25grn Berger non MEF

2nd: AR-15 with 50grn ballistic tips

Also employ a Mossberg 835 Ulti with #4 buck but the 17 does 80-90% of the killing.

#1 Winchester Mod. 70 Coyote topped with a VXII
6-18x40mm OA Leupold. With a custom 2lb Timmee trigger. My Family shoots Weatherby and Remington so I have taken a lot of heat. I just smile and wave because it shoots great.

#2. .223rem Again I am taking a lot of heat from the family. My dad shoots a Remington 700 in 22-250, my brother shoots a cooper in .224 Weatherby (balisticly equal to the 22-250). So far when we have gone out either chuck blasting or yote hunting, my .223 has done everything that the 22-250 and the .224 has done. Not to mention it has done it cheaper, it is easier on barrel life. Don't get me wrong both the 22-250 and .224 are death rays. I used the 22-250 prior to getting my .223 and I liked it a lot.

#3 Bullets of choice would be for all varmints, the 50gr NOS BT on top of 26.2 grains of W748.(A pretty mild load but it drives tacks.)Chucks and yotes hate it.

I then Load the 53 Barnes X-Bullet for deer hunting. An average 6 point and a good hearty doe fell to it this past deer season. Both animals were taken with a single X-Bullet through the boiler room. The Doe was broad side at 40 yards and the 6point was quartering to me at 95 yards. The 6point ran 25 yards and the doe about 45-50 yards. Both bullets penetrated completley through the animals.

For big game.
I like a M70 Classic Stainless Synthetic stocked, Pachmyer Decelerator pad, timney trigger set at two pounds, dual dove tail mounts, rings in Matte Black with a Nikon 4.5X14 Matte Black scope in 300 Win Mag. with 180 Grain Ballistic Silvertips.

Really depends on what I am hunting.
Deer:30-30 10x50 scope with Remington Hollow Points.
Turkey:12gauge with #4 bird shot
Rabbits:4-10 with small game load.
Squriles:same as rabbits or I sometimes use my night hunting Predator gun.
Night Time Predators:Ruger .22 with 11 round clip, mossy oak break up tape with a 3x-9x40 scope and a 1 million candle power scope light that has a removable red lens.
If I am just walking the creek during the summer or im at the pond fishing, i carry my bolt action 22 from Military School, just incase a little snake wants to pop up, or a turtle tries to take a breath..though i am 16 now.lol
on my trapline i carry a ruger 22 German Style Pistol.

Favorites:

1. Remington 700

2. 243win (second 220 Swift)

3. Speer 70gr. TNT (55gr. Nosler BT in 220)

The 243 is a savage the 220 is Remington, can't wait to rebarrel that bad boy in 243.

For deer= Springfield 03-A3 Douglas barrel 30-06 Ackley Imp. Timney trigger (2lbs) 5.5-14.5 Nikon Titanium.
150 Grain Rem factory ammo .5-1 inch groups 100 Yards fire forming, I know I need to start reloading.

For Varmints (what I am going to buy anyway) Rem 700 VLS 22-250

Now this all depends on what I'm going after and what is handiest. Hmmmm I bet one involves a Purple SWIFT.
Remington Rifles: 223, 22BR, 22/6mm, 220 SWIFT
For Coyotes- 220 and 22/6
Smaller stuff- 223, 22BR

Hmmmmm ....

Favorite gun - Winchester Model 70

Favorite cal - .300wsm

Favorite ammo - Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 150's

Close second was: Ruger - M77 Mark II in .243 with Nosler 70gr BT

Man this thread has found new legs!

My favorite: Remmy 788 in .223 with Burris Signature 2x8

Second favorite Remmy 788 in .222 with Burris Signature 2x8. The .223 shoots a slightly tighter pattern (1/2 MOU is not unusual) than the .222 (figure 1 MOU which ain't bad either). If it weren't for that I would favor the .222 as it kicks a bit less and does less damage to the fur.

Third favorite is a Ruger M77 in .243 - another pretty durn accurate rifle that is fun to shoot.

I don't reload but favor Hornady over the other brands of cartridges - they are consistently more accurate for me.

Favorite Shotgun - Benelli SBE. I have had / shot many different auto loaders and the Benelli is head and shoulders above the rest. I can shoot anything from doves to turkeys with it.

My all around favorite is my Savage 111 in .223. It has a Sightron 3-12x40 scope, Rifle Basix Trigger, and absolutely loves 55gr V-Max.

My runner up is my 700 BDL SSDM in 25-06. This has a Nikon 4.5-14x40 scope and loves 87gr Speers.

My scatter gun is new and hasn't been field tested yet. I wanted a cheap one so I got a Verona semi-auot 12. Only time will tell.

hard to leave this one alone . LOl. 16 inch bushmaster V-match , 52 gr. black hills match hollow points , same in rem model -7 223 18 1/2 inch barrel or Hand r ultra varminter sako L 461 action . guess i love my 223,s. all shoot the black hills under an inch , most much less . long range, windy day, smack em and stack em ,dont care about fur gun, is a sig shr-970 in 25-06 , 85 gr. nosler b.t. hand loads. last coyote killed with this gun was a supper lucky 639 yrd shot . Jery .

My varmint rifle is a Ruger #1 Heavy Barrel Varmint gun in .223Rem. This gun is so good (box stock except for a replacement adjustable trigger)that I had to upgrade the scope from a Leupold M8-12x40 to a Schmidt and Bender 4-16x50 Long Range Varmint. I don't reload, so the load I use is a custom load by Performance Ammunition (e-mail: ACCURIZEIT@aol.com). It's a 50gr. Hornady V-Max Bullet using Winchester brass. I don't know the powder load, but it shoots consistent sub 3/8" groups in the Ruger, and has shot .1" groups.

Probably should add that Ruger is not really my favorite brand of Rifle since I discovered Blaser. But this one sure shoots.
