i recently bought a remington 700 adl in .270 caliber, all matte black, with synthetic stocks.it has a bushnell scope mounted on weaver mounts.i shoot the 130 gr. core lokt ammo . it is a flat shooting rifle. i like it!!!!!
Well, when it comes to my callin' guns, I use my NEF in .223 topped with a Tasco World Class 3-9x45. It excells on a diet of Winchester "White Box" specials, 55 gr SP's. For up close work, I have my Mossberg 835 Ulti-mag usually stoked with Winchester Supremes in #4 Buck. For smaller varmints such as P-dogs, I use the aforementioned NEF or a newly aquired Savage 93r with a cheap-o Tasco 3-9x32 scope, chambered in .17HMR.
Sako Finnbear .270 win with 100gr remiongton PSP. I got a Bushnell Elite 3-9 Fast Focus Scope. This will put them down quick. Latter i will buy a NEF .223 rem. as a dedicated Varmint/Coyote rifle. I also got a Remington 870 Super Mag Express filled with 3 1/2" #4 buck full choke.
Depends on where I'm going. For sage brush country out in the open, I'll use my Rem 700 ADL in 22-250 with a Weaver scope. In close brushy areas with lots of trees etc, I'll use a Rem 788 in 243 with a shorty barrel. Handy little thing!
also depends on the target species. If I am chasing fox I use my ruger 22 hornet. If I am coyote hunting I take my ruger mark 2 with a leupold 3-9, in 223. when in thick cover I use my goose gun a Browning 10g light auto with a 26in barrel even though I would rather shoot canines with a rifle
I have a .22-250 Browning Stalker (blued w/ standard barrel). I have a trigger job and it's been bedded/floated. I plan to handload, but since I don't yet, I find Rem 55gr PSP to be the best for my gun (still searching for the best though). I shoot doe and hogs with it too, so I stay away from plastic tips and hollow points. That way I just have one all-around round for it.
I have a Burris Fullfield II 3.5x10x50 that I love to top it off.
My wife says I got a whole vault full of favorites! Thanks to her I got the Fort Knox safe to rest em in. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Hunting big game my favorite would be the .338 Win mag using 230 grain Trophy Bonded bullet.
My long range elk rifle is a model 70 Winchester in the 300 Ultra mag! Hunting the black timber, I prefer the 23 inch short barrel 338 Win mag and 250 grain Swift A Frame bullet.
All around carry rifle at the homestead, it would be the model 70 Winchester 25-06 with 100 grain bullets.
Dog Town gun is a Remington 40x in a .222
Ground Hog (stationary) gun favorite is the Remington model 700 Bull barrel in a 22-250.
Dangerous game rifle is the model 70 Winchester in a .416 Remington with 350 grain Swift A Frames or Barnes bullets.
Dangerous game rifle is the model 70 Winchester in a .458 Lott, using 450 grain Swift A Frames or 500 grain Woodliegh Solids.
Been using a Rem 700 Varmint for years. It out shoots anything I own. Not far behind it though is my newly aquired Savage Weather Warrior in .223. It has shot groups under 1/2" with several different loads. I haven't shot a coyote with it yet but Me and it have raising hell on the woodchucks and it will be at my side come calling time especialy since it is half the weight of the Remington. Also use an NEF .243. Ive killed some coyotes with it but the accuracy just isn't what the others are.
Favorite bullet has to be the VMax but I've had great results from others too. The 50 Hornady SX is my favorite in my .222 and shoots very well in my .223 as well but I have only used them on chucks.
For fish camp varmints of the large and black kind that sneak into camp at night it's hard to beat the confidence of a short barreled pump 12ga. The last such varmint was chassed out of camp in broad daylight by Mrs TT stomping her feet and chasing after him yelling "get out of here you". I scolded her royaly for her bravery/fear as it could have turned out different. Bear was 250lber. That's another story, lol.
