Young nilgai bull and Blackbuck does

Hey Clarence. How big is this animal? There is a ranch a few miles South of my daughter, outside of college station that has a few similarly marked exotics. They look to be smaller than this one. They are about the height of a large dog. The females look very like pronghorns. The males seem to be very anti-social and are always grazing or laying out by themselves some distance from the female herd. They run in the same pasture with a herd of zebras.

The Sables are between 4 to 4.5' at the shoulder, and the bulls weigh up to 500#, Dennis. There are a ton of different small antelope, most of which I have never seen. Thompson Gazelle and Springbok are about the size of a large dog and are colored somewhat like a pronghorn, but their markings are much more subdued than the Sable or Blackbuck.

Are they dark color like the Sable? If so they might be Indian antelope (Blackbuck), the bull is black and the females are pronghorn color and do not have horns. Females usually run together and bulls are hermit like except during breeding period.

Zebras take up with just about any species, it seems.

The head-and-body length is typically between 190 and 255 cm (75 and 100 in).[14] Males reach about 117–140 cm (46–55 in) at the shoulder, while females are slightly shorter. Males typically weigh 235 kg (518 lb) and females 220 kg (490 lb).[15] The tail is 40–75 cm (16–30 in) long, with a tuft at the end.

The only other critters that I can think of, and they are more in the size range you mention are:
Thompson Gazelle, which I do not have a picture of. They have them on one of the ranches I hunted, but I mistook them for Springbok which I was more familiar with on another ranch so never took a picture. The Tommy is smallest of the two, standing only 28" at shoulder and weighing up to 75#.

The other is the Springbok, which stand up to 34" at shoulder and can weigh 90#

The picture of the sable is very similar in color, both male and female but the horns are not corkscrewed and they are round and long. They are swept back and stay fairly narrow but spread at the ends. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like the Blesbok or Bontebok ?
Blesbok slightly larger, up to 39" @ shoulder and 100-325#

Bontebok, a subspecies slightly smaller to 36" at shoulder and up to 180# (They can interbreed) Pictures are of Blesbok ^^^ Juveniles horns have not developed the flare. I can't visually tell the difference between the two.
