Probably the nastiest part of the US I've ever seen was from the air west of Salt Lake City. Never understand why the 'native' peoples ever ventured there. They even gave up on Mesa Verde and Palo Duro.
Have to admire their building skills without benefit of such tools as levels, squares, etc. and their ingenuity in the many different styles used, based on the terrain chosen.
