I went to the range yesterday and got some goot result with W748 and 110 Gr. Sps at 150 yards. I know they are a lot of people on here that swear abolts are inferior to the 700 but I own quite a few of both and at 150 the factory Abolt out preformed by Free FLoated and glass bedded 243. Below is pics at 150 yards using a bench. The first two are a 4 shot group and the last pics is a 6 shot two of the bullets when almost in the same hole.

2 different rifles in 2 different chamberings firing 2 different loads is hardly a "test". This information, collectively as itself, means nothing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Want to try and outshoot my Rem 700 308 with that A-bort? Those groups won't come close. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Seroiusly though, you can't draw any conclusions from given information........ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

i'm with..2MG..i have nothing for or against a-bolt's..the fact's are the fact's..a "test" between two different brand's of rifle's in different caliber's mean's nothing...just my thought's..[BTW] "nothin" wrong with those 308 group's..

I agree, the only way to really compare the two would be for the rifle's to be shooting it's individual perfect load. Not the same load unless they're they same which would be improbable. You would then probably have to have a couple different people shoot it to take out user error. Nice groups though.

I knew 2 much gun would weigh in........LOL Where is Deano????? No I just wanted to post these pics the rem 700 had a different load in it......its the best load I have got with it though so far. It was very windy this day and I can't say I held perfectly still. The groups might could of been a little better. 2Muchgun you need to just go try you one out. I think you'll fall in love. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. If your 700 will shoot 6 shots under quarter even closer than the pic you must have a great shooter. But for the $500-$600 I have invested in this rifle alone I'd say its well worth the money. wouldnt you???

It is definitely a good shooter, and those are nice groups. You can't actually say one outshoots the other though.

I was teasing you about my 308. It is a GAP rifle. It would not be too fair of a comparison to a factory rifle.

Put a 100gr Sierra over 42.3gr IMR4350 in that 243 and tell me how it does.....

BRdeano where you at and..... what do you think????

Thanks for the PM BAMA... I'm trying to get my stuff together to go out to lay in the mud and ring some steel with a couple crappy remingtons. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif Gotta get out there and back before the RedWings game this afternoon. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I think you have a good shooting rifle....Heck, the Savage/Stevens rifles can shoot...Tikka's can shoot well too. It's little quirks about those rifles mentioned that keep them from finding a permanent home in my safe. My likes/dislikes for those rifle's above have little to do with how they shoot. My Kimber 22-250 won't come close to what you posted for groups...but that's an whole 'nuther story there, but it sure looks good /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

It wouldn't be fair to start comparing customs to a factory rifle...I won't break out any pics of groups shot with the GAP 308...and I don't think 2MG wants to either...LOL

The one savage that I still retain, put 9 5shot groups on paper at 230yds that agg'd a little over 1/2MOA the last time I put it on paper. I've remingtons that won't do that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif .

Funny, I was just checking what time the Wings game was today. We were thinking of hitting Cabelas today. I guess there is some big gun show going on there....

Here little A-bolt, A-bolt, A-bolt. Here little A-bolt.......

Nice. I almost went with the same McSwirly pattern on the bottom one. I like it.

Those Remmys don't shoot, do they? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

How do you like the IOR?

I have an A-Bolt from the first production run ever in .270 that has always put four out of five different FACTORY LOADS into three shots that can be covered by a dime. Winchesters went into a nickel. 150 grain Federal Partitions go into the same hole frequently. Kinda insane really, but I'm not complaining!

Edit: and does this with a 2.5 x 8 Leupy that has never moved a 1/4" in almost 25 years.

My friend has the same rifle still bought at the same time and his shoots better than mine with a 2x7 Leupy. Most high dollar "Tactical .308" that can't touch our rifles.

I know...we got lucky, but still....it's crazy!

There is an A-bort White Gold Medallion in 270 still in the box floating around here somewhere.

How the A-bolt shoots has never been the issue with them.

Still, I can assure you there are a couple of GAP 308s around here that will outshoot your A-bolts, handily. How does .25 moa @ 600yds sound?

Well I didn't burn through all the ammo I loaded, but I shot enough to once again appreciate the 223AI/75Amax combo. I lied earlier, they were only clocking 3080 today. The fields are a muddy mess, there were a couple good toms strutting, it was a pretty good day to get out of the house.

There's some nice rifles posted above...

Here's one of the 223AI after I had Jered get rid of the Badger knob and install one of his own design. Should have snapped that photo after I picked up the Badger rail/rings and coated the barreld action.
