How many of you hunt Coyotes alone?

I hunt alone about 50/50. That is why I got my dog and I am training him to decoy coyotes for me. It is alot of fun watching a dog work. I wish my son liked to go with me, but somedays, he's just not into it. He tries, but somedays I think he would rather stay home inside where it is warm.

Besides if I am alone, I am never wrong...right?

Alone for sure! I mean its nice to get away from every day life and get out by yourself! Don't get me wrong i don't mind taking a buddy but peace a quiet and a good ol' rabbit distress call ain't bad!

Alone... it just works out that way though i would love to have a buddy to hunt with but most of the kids in my town (even though we are a small logging town in which everyone deer hunts) are all to busy smoking "herbs" and partying. Theres a few kids i could get to go with me but they believe in road hunting and dont like to sit still.

Id like to get my dad into it. hes always wanted too and i think that if i can down my first coyote it will spark his interest enough to come out a few times with me. He bought a foxpro years ago and had all of the intentions of going coyote hunting but he never used it.

Add me too the list. Despite the fact that I hunt public land I believe that I am alone in predator hunting in it. Most of the time I hunt at night sitting on the ground. It can make for "interesting" situations sometimes. I always carry backup for a reason.

I hunt alone, by preference. I wouldn't mind if I had a hunting partner, but it would have to be someone with VERY good weapons handling knowledge/experience.

It's extremely importtant to have good weapons handling for safety reasons. Hunting predators can bring about some unexpected events and everyone involved has to know how and what to do, otherwise someone gets hurt and/or the game gets away.

I have a couple of buddies that have military backgrounds and those are the ones that I prefer to have with me.

You near San Diego?

As for me, I hunt with my dad. He has the truck

! Car, off road, and coyote hunting doesn't work too well. Trouble is I want to go more than he does and I'm a lot younger and can walk more without getting tired. Makes it tough.

I hunt alone 90-95% of the time.
I prefer to hunt alone too. I always see more critters when I am alone too.
Although I enjoy hunting with a friend, success is better solo.

I love to hunt alone as most hunters don't know how to sit still and shut up. I also don't have to explain what were doing and why we are doing it. It would be nice to have some help in carrying some of the equipment that I use, but it is to high of a price to pay in my opinion. By going alone I can enjoy all of creation that has been given us,especially at daybreak when all of nature wakes up to a new day.

I prefer to go with someone. For most of my life I have mostly done it alone. Now that my sons are in high school I drag them out. Anymore its not so much about the kill, its about spending time with people I care about and sharing something.

Well, thanks for the replies. I will take my shotgun buddy and see if he likes it. My son wants to go but he needs a little trigger time with the .243 when I get it before he goes calling with me. Otherwize, I will kill yotes alone. Happy Hunting.

Coyote hunting alone 99.9% of the time.
With the exceptions of my wife, whose arthritis limits her hunting to deer hunting from a ground blind, and my son who is allways gone pipe-lining, alone is fine.

I find that I have better success when I hunt alone. I can slip in quietly and I know exactly what im going to do. When I hunt with a partner, there's a lot more noise and we normally try to communicate if something comes in with hand signals, we sort of check each other which can spook game.

so its about 80% alone 20% parnter.

Its more fun with a friend. But ill never hunt with more than 2 people. Just too many hunters for yotes.

Aside from a few hunts with a couple fellow PM members, and hunting a few times with my oldest son, I always hunt alone.

Not really that I want to.
It's due to either scheduling, or the fact that a lot of the ground I hunt, the landowners only give permission for me. Not any partner.

Coyote hunting, I hunt alone around 90% of the time. Other times I'll take my son along. I don't know what you all encounter in terms of gainng access to property, but I'm surrounded by private property, and a quick way to loose your access is to start bringing folks along.

Elk and deer is etirely different, I hunt with a buddy nearly 100% of the time.

my feelings exactly. especially night hunting, something about being in the woods when a coyote comes in, and not knowing EXACTLY what the other person with a gun is going to do just doesn't sit well with me.

I absolutley won't go coyote hunting without 5 other guys! And four of those fellas must be expert marksman. The 5th guy only needs to have excellent lungs.

I put two armed guys in front of me, two armed guys behind me and the guy with the good lungs stays about 5 yards off to the side.

If I call a coyote, and I pray I never do, those 4 armed dudes are responsible for me not getting attacked!

If there is any doubt those four men can't get the coyote stopped before it gets to me, at my command the 5th guy with the good lungs will start blowing a starters whistle for as loud and as long as he can.

Hopefully that will be enough to slow down the coyote until I have enough time to jump in the truck and lock the doors!! Those other 5 guys on on their own. May God bless their souls.

Coyotes and obama scare me to death!
